RDistribution Manager (Open)

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW

Position Title: Distribution Manager

Location: Appleton WI

Travel: Position will required to travel to the Airgas location in Marinette WI and Green Bay WI

The Distribution Manager is responsible for all phases of distribution including daily truck routing (intercompany shuttles trailer and bulk deliveries) monitoring delivery vehicle maintenance recordkeeping and driver safety oversight. The Distribution Manager is responsible for maximizing delivery service in a safe and efficient manner. Supervises drivers and coordinates special requirements with Plant Manager and shift leads.
  • Directly supervises drivers providing leadership regarding safe work habits. Manages availability of drivers and equipment including all vehicle maintenance requirements to ensure that adequate resources are available to meet distribution/customer needs.

  • Controls distribution costs and maximizes service response through balancing of daily routes and overall system optimization.

  • Provides safety and compliance training to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) Occupational Safety & Health Agency (OSHA) Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Airgas organizationwide requirements.

  • Drives continuous improvement in daily distribution operations. Champions distribution efficiency initiatives for the location including demand leveling.

  • Develops documents and trains employees on Standard Operating Processes (SOPs).

  • Reviews and processes daily all Department of Transportation (DOT) documentation; vehicle condition reports and drivers hours of service route efficiency and completion.

  • Reviews incoming orders for accuracy and unusual requirements. Communicates unusual requirements for production planning. Reviews returned trips for paperwork accuracy and completeness and unfulfilled orders. Reviews open orders for status and closure.

  • Prepares daily local and interbranch delivery schedule for cylinders and bulk.

  • Prepares load sheets delivery tickets and manifests and highlights any critical customer requirements. Ensures loads are accurate and complete.

  • Responds to inquiries from sales customer service and branches regarding delivery status capabilities and any emergency delivery requirements.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Are you a MATCH

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • College degree in supply chain management logistics management or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or distribution operation.

  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a distribution environment.

  • Knowledge of truck routing and shipping of hazardous materials.

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and FDA requirements.

  • Working knowledge of SAP strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Google platform including: Sheets Documents and Slides.

  • Selfstarter selfmotivated independent wellorganized with attention to detail.

  • Team player with strong collaborative skills; ability to negotiate and influence without having direct authority.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read comprehend and articulate technical procedures governmental regulations SDS safety rules manufacturer operating and maintenance instructions procedure manuals etc.

  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with others in both favorable and unfavorable situations regardless of the status of the position. Encourages and supports cultural diversity and establishes effective inclusive working relationships.

  • Strong analytical skills; competency for understanding metrics and ability to present and communicate to all levels of the organization and external customers.

  • Leadership skills; identifies requirements; allocates and effectively uses information time talent and other resources necessary for goal accomplishment; establishes appropriate courses of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals; develops evaluation criteria and tracking systems for monitoring goal progress and accomplishment; and specifies objectives schedules and priorities.

  • Math skills; Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate ratio and percentages.

  • Must be customer service oriented and able to interact in a professional respectful and courteous manner.

  • Must be able to safely drive a forklift.

  • Specific vision abilities include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to focus objects.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.

  • Occasional walking standing bending stooping crouching reaching grasping feeling and repetitive motion required.

  • Ability to perform work requiring occasional climbing balancing kneeling pushing pulling and finger activities including the tightening of ratchet binders.

  • Ability to talk to and hear customers/coworkers as well as smell/hear leaking gas from cylinders.

  • Minimal travel; minimal overnight travel occasional weekend and oncall status.
