Department Summary

The Office of the Provost (OtP) upholds provides leadership on and carries out the academic mission of the University. Position Summary

The UO Online Support Specialist provides exceptional customer service to students staff faculty and community members utilizing UO Online support services. The Support Specialist provides primary auxiliary support to both UO Online Exam Center and UO Online Faculty Canvas Support services and secondary support to the UO Online Instructional Design team as appropriate. In addition this position greets visitors answers questions handles complaints makes referrals as appropriate and provides program information. The UO Online Support Specialist must be able to explain program and technical details in common and uncommon situations to a wide variety of audiences.

The UO Online Support Specialist helps support the proctoring services at the UO Online exam center by confirming student identity monitoring active exam sessions verifying and maintaining exam administration guidelines. This position helps students to schedule oncampus exams or arrange proctoring for offsite exams. In support of the academic mission of the University of Oregon this position also provides frontline faculty support for effective use of UOs Learning Management System (LMS). The successful candidate will work closely with department personnel to promote quality standards highimpact educations practices and effective use of technology for teaching and learning.

Minimum Requirements

Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing word processing or other experience generating documents; OR
An Associates Degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

Proficiency with Windows operating system
Basic computer troubleshooting skills
Ability to interact professionally with students faculty staff and community members from diverse backgrounds in support of a welcoming and inclusive environment
Exceptional organization skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Skilled at maintaining comprehensive written documentation

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree
Two years experience in customer service
One year experience working in higher education
One year experience providing program support
One year experience working with a customer management system
