Job description
Application Engineer within the Aftermarket Commercial Operations team located in Corpus Christi TX assigned to support Aftermarket customers in the South Region and to serve as a backup for the greater North American region. The product focus is on Pumps Seals & Seal Support Systems.
The Applications Engineers primary functions are: to review customer requests for quotes generate technical proposals review customer purchase orders and job specifications generate engineering requirements for drawing and Bill of Material creation generate manufacturing requirements via the generation of sales order drafts facilitate the inspection and/or product failure analysis of returned products and to provide technical support to customers directly or through the responsible sales channel.
Responsibilities:
Provide quotations for Seals and Systems at market level pricing in response to RFQs in the requested customer time frame.
Interpret specifications and data sheets including special warranty delivery and payment terms requested by our customer.
Perform seal failure analysis including the generation of technical findings reports with recommendations.
Interact effectively with customers without supervision.
Demonstrates acquired specialization in multiple products.
For all products identifies the correct Flowserve solution to fulfill customer requirements.
Proactively seeks out maximizing financial drivers such as tracking costs expenses receivables and inventory to improve the financial performance of the Corporation.
Drive a consistent offering to our customers preventing regionalization of our product offerings.
Engage with all levels of management and sales to participate in pricing strategies.
Confirm the Sales Approval Process is followed for all firm bids and cost estimates are prepared and qualified by BU.
Drive and facilitate selective bidding as required based on current workloads and user locations.
Provide the first level of troubleshooting.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Engineering degree or equivalent with 5 years related experience with pumps seals or seal support systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication
Mechanical aptitude ability to utilize measuring equipment (i.e. dial calipers micrometers etc. ability to utilize basic tools for inspection
Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities in a selfdirected environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new programs/software.
Able to identify problems and utilize advanced problemsolving and troubleshooting skills to reach an appropriate solution.
Basic project management tools and methods
Strong work ethic with positive attitude
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Experience as an Applications Engineer or similar role such as inside Sales Representative Engineer.
Good communication skills
Strong technician acumen and analytical thinking.
SAP knowledge and experience in dealing with common MS Office applications.
BS Degree in relevant field and /or 35 years relevant experience.
