Mary Frey Full Time Minneapolis Monday Friday 7am 3:30pm

Mary Frey Part Time Saturday 7am3:30pm

Glenwood Part Time Minnepolis Fri Sat Sun 5pm 1:30am

Dorothy Day Full Time Saint Paul MF11pm 7:30am

As the need for our services grows and becomes increasingly complex Catholic Charities is working to adapt and respond. We respond in three ways preventing poverty meeting basic needs in times of crisis and creating pathways out of poverty.


WAGE RANGE: $22.10$24.40 / hour

Additional $.50 / hour 6pm 11pm (MF)

Additional $1.50 / hour 11pm 6am (any day)

Additional $1.00 / hour 6am11pm Saturday or Sunday

JOB SUMMARY: Catholic Charities is looking for a culturally aware traumainformed dynamic and selfmotivated individual to work as a safety associate.As a Safety Associate you will provide safety and security in Catholic Charities buildings and grounds by responding to the needs of the tenants clients guests volunteers and staff. Safety Associates provide excellent customer service interact in a trauma informed way during every interaction and work proactively to prevent incidents on Catholic Charities property. Safety Associates may be involved in highrisk situations and may be asked to respond to deescalate customers tenants and guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Patrols designated areas in buildings and grounds interacting with clients tenants volunteers and guests and built positive relationships. Responds to calls for service and completes any shift paperwork as directed.
  2. Uses appropriate interpersonal skills trauma informed care framework and deescalation techniques to influence escalated situations gaining genuine agreement and following through on decisions and regulations.
  3. Uses appropriate responses to disengage from physical violence as necessary to remove self and others from escalated situations.
  4. Identify assess and understand crisis intervention from the moment an incident occurs to the point that recovery procedures start.
  5. Demonstrates ability to provide service adjusting approaches to reflect differences in the population served; individualizes response to meet client/tenant/guest needs.
  6. Partners effectively with program staff in decision making and response; fosters culture of improvement and innovative thinking.
  7. May occasionally fill in for breaks or other cross coverage of housing and emergency services desks. Attends shift huddles with teams to hear current issues and needs.
  8. Acts as point of contact for first responders arriving on campus follows up after incidents. Assists in response to alarms in tenant rooms with housing team if needed.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years security experience required
  • One year shelter/outreach experience preferred.
  • CPI deescalation and selfdefense training preferred.
  • Valid drivers license and a safe driving record that is acceptable to Catholic Charities insurance company required.
  • Basic computer skills desired.
  • Ability to work irregular hours on short notice including night and holiday shift coverage.
  • Ability to work with diverse and/or lowincome populations including those who may be experiencing homelessness unstable housing and/or mental illness required
