Senior Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated risk and process management professionals with excellent analytical organizational and communication skills. These skills allow the Senior Risk Manager to gain insights and act as an effective challenger to ensure risk is a performance enabler for HR. A successful risk manager operates from a foundation of knowledge about the Line of Business with whom they are working laws/regulations processes and associated controls and good risk management and risk mitigation practices. They are forward thinking quick to adapt and technologically adept.
Senior Risk Managers have a high level of exposure across HR and will work with executives and teams to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risk to the Company.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated risk or process management professional with excellent problem solving integrative thinking prioritization and communication skills. Additionally building winwin partnerships with multiple business stakeholders across HR Functional Areas second line and third lines of defense. This candidate will have a Global mindset and a passion to standardize and simplify.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates executes and instills strong risk management practices throughout HR serving as a thought partner to identify socialize and resolve key risks and issues identified through those activities to deliver a consistent and wellmanaged experience across the organization
Consults on risk to one or more HR Functional Areas providing advice and guidance to internal business clients as needed
Effectively challenges our HR business partners and collaborate effectively with 2nd lines of defense (Compliance Legal Enterprise Risk Management Operational Risk Management) and 3rd line of defense (Audit)
Proactively analyzes risk trends identifying signs of changing risk levels and/or symptoms of process control breakdowns and areas of emerging risk for the business unit including reporting on risk topics to management
Stays current on the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to your businesses
Provides oversight and guidance during risk assessments (Launch Process Criticality Procell Level Assessments and Risk and Control SelfAssessments etc.
Supports audits and regulatory exams of our business partners organizations as applicable
Participates in risk forums and contributes to continuous improvement of risk management practices
Sets direction manages expectations and may lead crossfunctional teams through various initiatives
Participates in and execute other special projects for the risk office on a periodic basis
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or military experience
At least 3 year of Financial Services Risk Management Experience
At least 5 years of Project Management experience
At least 7 years of experience supporting partnering and interacting with internal business clients
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 7 years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
At least 7 years of Financial Services risk management experience
PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
Ability to set direction manage expectations and lead crossfunctional teams

The minimum and maximum fulltime annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for parttime roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $170800 $194900 for Sr. Risk ManagerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
