We are currently looking for a Technical Lead who brings a deep expertise in building and maintaining medium to complex web solutions for various clients in various industries. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about digital innovations and who has a strong commitment to excellence and growth.

This is a fulltime permanent position and fully remote with the possibility to work from our downtown Toronto office for residents of that area.

About the role

As a Technical Lead your role will be to define the technical vision framework and standards for all technical aspects of the digital solutions that we build for our various clients. You will work in close collaboration with other teams such as design and product & project management to ensure the technical vision aligns with the needs of our will also play a support role with our web developers by empowering them in the resolution of technical issues and challenges.

What you will do specifically

  • Understand user needs and define the technical vision framework and standards to be presented to development teams accountable for the delivery of client digital solutions.
  • Set technical aspects for each project including the programming languages to be used and the tools required for project completion.
  • Drive the highlevel architectural discussions with the project team and other stakeholders to ensure product strategy is supported.
  • Partner with Product Owners and development teams to review the overall technical vision and break down feature epics into user stories and tasks.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical design documents and ensure the maintenance of these documents.
  • Lead Sprint demos and work with Product Owners and development team during backlog refinement and resolution of technical issues and challenges.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure best practices are applied to align with the business overall strategy.
  • Oversee the technical implementation of digital initiatives by working closely with developers to ensure all aspects of the website development are properly implemented.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions and maintain project momentum.
  • Respond to technical questions directed to members of the project teams and other stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of postproduction product issues through ticket review and ticket grooming outlining clear tasks for the production team and client action if needed.
  • Obtain all necessary input for each identified issue adjust time estimates if needed and partner with team members to action work required in the resolution of client issues.
  • Lead weekly scrums to ensure identified issues are being addressed without delay support the team with any technical issues and ensure ticket SLAs are being met.
  • Review and validate Pull Requests in preparation for production quality assurance and move tickets to live state.
  • Generate detailed reports with a focus on relevant development metrics and KPIs focusing on the accomplished planned and blocked tasks.
  • Mentor and coach development team members by providing honest and constructive feedback.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize internal processes improve development workflows and introduce new tools or frameworks.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their potential impact and value to the agency and its clients.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Technology or equivalent
  • 5 years of handson software engineering experience with a track record of delivering mid to large size projects
  • 2 years of experience leading teams ideally in web or application development
  • Experience working in a clientfacing environment and translating business goals into technical plans
  • Experience working with Agile Hybrid teams and practices
  • Experience managing and prioritizing effectively
  • Solid understanding of WordPress at the enterprise level (WordPress VIP)
  • Proficient in HTML CSS Javascript Git cloudbased systems Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge of database concepts both SQL and NoSQL
  • Proven ability in the development and maintenance of effective client relationships and demonstrated commitment to strong customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines while being adaptable and able to work well under pressure.
