Principal Data Engineer

Were currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Engineer to join our team as a key technical authority and thought leader for our Data Platform and Engineering team. Youll be responsible for driving the improvement of technical delivery quality guiding solution development and delivery and providing expertise in a wide range of applications and technologies. At AXA we work smart empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them their team and our customers. Youll work at least 40 of your week away from home moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations visiting clients or attending industry events. What youll be doing:

• Provide technical leadership and expertise for the development and implementation of data engineering solutions.
• Design develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
• Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand data requirements and ensure effective data integration and governance.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools and technologies to enhance data processing storage and analysis capabilities.
• Drive the design and implementation of data models and databases to support the AXAs data infrastructure and applications.
• Define and enforce best practices for data engineering ensuring data quality reliability and security across all datarelated initiatives.
• Contribute to the delivery of code and provide expertise in several key technology areas.

What youll bring:

• Strong understanding of data and analytical processing technologies.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership in a product team or domain.
• Expert fundamentals in multiple technologies and frameworks required such as Azure Data Lake Azure Data Factory Event Hubs Databricks PowerBI DevOps GIT SQL Python and PySpark.
• Excellent knowledge of development lifecycles.
• Ability to lead and work in a team as well as being selfsufficient
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Agile practices principles and theories including Value Stream level ceremonies.
• Ability to prioritise and confidence in decision making.
