Job Description Summary

We are looking for a detailoriented Quality Technician to join our Power Transformers area of business. In this role you will inspect transformer components ensure compliance with engineering drawings and support problem resolution in the manufacturing process. You will collaborate with Engineering and other key stakeholders to maintain highquality standards and drive continuous improvement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspecttransformer components (e.g. insulation copper work heavy metalwork bushings mechanical devices and current transformers) to engineering drawing standards.
  • Ensure compliancewith standard material specifications and work instructions.
  • Conduct problemsolvingactivities on the shop floor to support manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboratewith Engineering and other departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Raise and documentaccurateNonConformance Reports (NCRs)and create detailedinspection reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experiencein a quality inspection role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strongvisual and dimensional inspection skillswith the ability to useprecision measuring equipment.
  • Ability toread and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency inMicrosoft Office; experience withSAP and Windchillis a plus.
  • Knowledge of HVDC transformersis advantageous.
  • Comfortableworking at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Strongteamwork communication skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Flexibleto work overtime when required.

Lichfield Road manufacturing facility has been originally established in 1903 and has been standing since 1960 as a part of English Electric group delivering power transformers that later merged GEC Alsthom and later became ALSTOM and has been acquired by GE in 2015. Stafford is ideally suited for research and advanced manufacturing with our highly skilled staff and position at the heart of the UKs transport network. GE is proud to be the largest employer in Stafford with around 1700 employees across multiple sites.

The transformer facility has been renowned all over the world with its expertise in design manufacturing and delivery of HVAC and HVDC transformers worldwide up to 800kV.
