Job Description

For our Group Procurement team we are looking for a Group Procurement Quarry Service Manager (f/m/d). The Group Procurement Quarry Service Manager is responsible for managing the quarry services category of Heidelberg Materials. While formulating strategic recommendations in the quarry services category the focus is on the optimization of quarry services across the area. This role involves the active management of the category leveraging datadriven insights to ensure cohesive alignment across areas and countries and prioritizing negotiations based on available capacity to ensure optimal resource allocation. Moreover the role is set up to leverage flexible and demandoriented use of capacities across all areas.

This position will be located in Heidelberg and you will report to the Head of Group Procurement Mining.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

  • Leading negotiations with service contractors and quarry operators to secure favorable terms and conditions that support operational efficiency and cost effectiveness

  • Developing implementing comprehensive tender management strategies and defining standardized templates that encompass planning and evaluation to enhance procurement outcomes and drive competitive advantage while supporting tender process including final negotiations

  • Prioritizing negotiations based on capacity to ensure optimal resource allocation and alignment with organizational goals

  • Analyzing market trends and supplier capabilities to inform negotiation strategies and identify potential risks and opportunities and conducting analyses of performance metrics related to negotiation effectiveness to identify items for optimization cost reduction and efficiency improvement

  • Overseeing the management of contract durations to ensure compliance with agreed timelines and conditions while also facilitating timely renewals and renegotiations as necessary

  • Overseeing and coordinating quarry operations within the region to ensure seamless and alignment with strategic objectives and monitoring of supplier performance to ensure compliance with contracts and proactively addressing any issues or concerns

YOUR PROFILE

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Procurement or Operations preferably in the building materials industry

  • Vendor management practices (incl. successful contract negotiations strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management)

  • Decisionmaking ability in highstake negotiation scenarios is given

  • International experience in leading negotiations across different markets and cultures

  • Experienced in data analysis for cost optimization

  • Technical knowhow: Performance enhancement strategies for quarry operations (focusing on process optimization equipment efficiency and workforce productivity to drive operational excellence); performance evaluation (incl. cost and financial analysis) of quarry operations; utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarking; industry health & safety standards; manufacturing processes and technologies relevant to quarry operations and materials processing

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
