Job Summary:

Location: Westroads Office Park III
Address: 1120 N. 103rd Plaza Omaha NE
Work Schedule: Office hours are Monday Friday 8:00 AM 5:00 PM PRN as needed schedule.

Accountable for the delivery of quality care to patients and families according to the individualized needs of the patient.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria.

  • Demonstrates ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.

Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the patients needs.

  • Includes data from the patient/significant other(s) in the assessment as appropriate.
  • Prioritizes data collection according to patients immediate needs.
  • Patient evaluations/assessment/medications/lab work.
    • Performs and documents Medication Reconciliation.
    • Verifies patient identification.
    • Perform initial assessment of patient.
    • Perform an ongoing assessment of patient during procedure.
    • Report accurate/appropriate information to pertinent departments/personnel.

Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patients nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcomes. (Consultation and resources nurses as teachers.

  • Collaborates with providers and other clinical disciplines as appropriate.
  • Provides teaching specific to the patient.
  • Care plan reflects continuing care needs and/or referrals.
  • Smart Growth Provides care for the optimal patient experience.
    • Facilitates access to Methodist Hospital services including program referrals and information by use of a computer based scheduling system or telephonic communication to meet the customers needs.
    • Performs multiresource appointment scheduling for Interventional Radiology utilizing the computer based scheduling system to meet customer satisfaction.
    • Collaborates with physician office staff and diagnostic departments to determine appropriate indications patient instructions and education are given for proper patient preparation and understanding of scheduled test/procedure by using clear communication skills.
    • Gives full attention to what other people are saying asking questions as appropriate to understand any points being made.
  • Serves as a liaison between physicians physicians office staff and the hospital by coordinating resource appointment scheduling for patient satisfaction.
    • Facilitates physician verbal or faxed orders to initiate patient services.
    • Preregisters patients.
    • Contacts patients and/or Medical Doctor (MD) office staff to rebook patients that need rescheduling to facilitate patient care.

Implements interventions that are consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner (Professional Models of Care).

  • Is familiar with and follows nursing protocols and standards of care.
  • Uses current knowledge in nursing practice based on standards and research literature.
  • Environment of Care.
    • Refer to Environment of Care (EOC) competency checklist.

Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety (autonomy).

  • Able to competently perform technical skills independently.
  • Is accountable to learn new skills and equipment within areas specifications and time frame.
  • Demonstrates correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information and policy and procedure manuals.
  • Follows appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies.
  • Heightened Focus on Efficiency Cerner/Outlook/ERNIE/ Navicare.
    • Schedules cases in a timely manner.
    • Returns all calls promptly and courteously.
    • Ensures pre procedure checklist: i.e. Film review/labs/orders for specimens.
    • Schedules in accordance with Interventional Radiology (IR)S scheduling policy :i.e. room time/ correct imaging guidance/outpatient /Am admit.

Maintains a professional behavior in attitude demeanor interactions to achieve organizations mission. (Quality Improvement Image of Nursing Interdisciplinary Relationships Professional Development community and the healthcare organization.

  • Communicates effectively to solve problems at the personal and unit level.
  • Is approachable and professional in working with other health professionals ancillary staff patients and family.

  • Participates in meetings and/or committees as needed to assist in decisions effecting area/unit or organization.
  • Demonstrate and show knowledge by following department division and nursing policy and procedure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned maintains team work positive mentoring and willingly assists with training of employees by positively assisting with the implementation of new procedures and job functions to enhance Interventional Radiology (IR) Schedulers services.

    • Maintains communication/coordination w/pertinent areas.

Initiates action to correct prevent and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient family or staff/employees. (Quality of Care)

  • Completes appropriate report form for a risk (e.g. variance/incident report patient concern report maintenance request).
  • Communicates to appropriate personnel regarding unresolved issues.
  • Works within the scope of practice as defined by Nurse Practice Act.
  • Ensures all patients are scheduled under the correct episode preop orders are in Cerner in a planned stated and all lab values are appropriate for Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures.

Fiscally accountable.

  • Acts professionally responsible for human and other resources.
  • Charges accurately for use of supplies and equipment according to policy.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.


Experience

  • Keyboard skills with experience on computer required.


License/Certifications

  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License valid compact multistate license or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required for work state.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire required within 3 months of hire.
  • Certification(s) in area of specialty preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients family members hospital personnel and coworkers.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to learn retain and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital information system.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve.
