Job Summary
At Mad Science we are having a BLAST! We pay you to have fun! Build and fly rockets demonstrate lasers explore the states of matter using dry ice and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about.
As a Mad Scientist you will lead students through an inquirybased discovery method involving instructor demonstrations handson activities and amazing takehome projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the worlds leading provider of fun science programs for elementaryaged children.
This is a parttime position and is somewhat seasonal. Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly including setup and cleanup time. Starting pay is $22.50$28.00 per hour DOE. If you teach 5 onehour classes per week you will make approximately $225$300 per week. There ARE multiple opportunities for more classes/hours for those with the availability.
We are currently looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science engineering and technology programs during afterschool and morning time slots. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher (although we love that!.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitating day camps inperson workshops and afterschool science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school
- Deliver highenergy part entertainment part education handson programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 810 weeks.
- Drive to various locations across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
- Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!
- Attend paid training sessions virtually or at our office.
- Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid).
- Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Be on time for all scheduled activities.
- Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Some experience working with groups of elementaryage 412 children (such as an afterschool teacher or camp counselor).
- Must be available a minimum of 3 consistent weekday afternoons from 125pm. While this is a parttime position it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (camp session afterschool program etc. and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability.
- Must have reliable transportation as you will be transporting equipment and conducting programs across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
- Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.
- Maintain a fun flexible & outgoing personality!
We train you in the curriculum and provide all materials. Mad Science classes follow the school calendar and are presented yearround. This is rewarding work if it fits with your schedule and lifestyle.

Compensation: $0.23 $0.28 per hour
