Job Description

Entrepreneurship and Business Teachers in Mount Vernon City School District (MVCSD) work with a diverse range of students to provide a dynamic intensive and supportive environment that nurtures students talents as innovators strategic thinkers and future business leaders. MVCSD guides students through the exploration and analysis of business principles entrepreneurial strategies and economic systems implementing a hands-on approach to business education that fosters a culture of creativity problem-solving and critical thinking.

Entrepreneurship and Business Teachers in MVCSD Schools Will:

  • Provide units of study in entrepreneurship and business that are challenging rigorous and aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for Career and Technical Education (CTE) emphasizing the importance of financial literacy business ethics and entrepreneurial mindset in a well-rounded education.

  • Foster connections between business concepts and other disciplines offering students opportunities to develop and apply skills in marketing finance management and economics across various content areas.

  • Engage students in real-world business scenarios through project-based learning simulations and collaborative ventures that promote innovation strategic planning and leadership.

  • Guide students in developing business plans conducting market research and analyzing case studies to build a deeper understanding of the global economy and their role within it.

  • Encourage students to explore multiple pathways to success including college career and entrepreneurship while cultivating persistence adaptability and resilience in overcoming challenges.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Business Economics Marketing or a related field is required; Masters degree is preferred.

  • A valid New York State Certification in Business Education or Career and Technical Education (CTE) is required.

  • Proven record of accomplishment in planning lessons with clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to use formal and informal assessments to guide instruction and support student growth.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with New York State CTE Learning Standards and integration of business-related competencies.

  • Experience tailoring instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and managing classroom routines effectively.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues industry partners and community organizations to enhance student learning.

  • Proficiency in incorporating educational technology including business simulation software productivity tools and digital collaboration platforms.

  • Regularly communicate with parents and guardians beyond report cards and scheduled conferences to support student success.

  • Attend all faculty meetings workshops retreats assemblies and school-wide events.

  • Maintain teacher web pages update assignments and grades weekly on the web portal and produce interim quarterly and semester grades.

  • Reflect critically on teaching practices identify areas for professional growth and engage in ongoing professional development aligned with school and departmental goals.
