DescriptionCorrosion Service Teams (CSTs) provide organizational level Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPAC) services as defined by Marine Corps Technical Manual 4795OR/1A. A valued member of the CST the CST Assistant Team Lead (ATL) is trained and typically serves as a CST technician. The CST ATL is also trained in all areas of responsibility for the CST Team Lead (TL) when required assumes those additional responsibilities in the absence of the TL. The job description of a CST ATL involves the management of the CPAC CST program policy procedures and personnel assigned to the team the completion of preventive maintenance the ability to work well on a team effectively communicate and display strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Position Description:
A CST ATL inspects assesses categorizes and services military and support equipment utilizing paper and/or electronic checklists. CST ATLs are required to perform surface preparation and touchup painting apply corrosion prevention compounds (CPCs) and conduct routine maintenance on application equipment. CST ATLs have a working knowledge of all procedures responsibilities and billets within the CST. In the absence of the CST TL or when required the CST ATL will assume the duties of the CST TL which includes the management of the CPAC CST program policy procedures and personal assigned to the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a CPAC CST Assistant Team Lead:
- Follow applicable safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Operate Corrosion Prevention Compound (CPC) application equipment which includes compressors application guns grinders vacuums etc.
- Apply CPCs on various types of military and support equipment as directed.
- Accurately identify Marine Corps Corrosion Category Codes 15 the 4 stages of corrosion and the correlation between category codes and stages of corrosion.
- Perform equipment corrosion assessments using a paper copy of the Marine Corps CPAC Program Corrosion Assessment Checklist (CAC).
- Perform equipment corrosion assessments using an electronic version of the CAC.
- Perform surface preparation and touchup procedures on military and support equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance of CPAC equipment.
- Travel as required to perform the duties of the position.
- Maintain and periodically review all applicable CPAC program publications and policy letters to ensure a working knowledge of requirements and all assigned personnel understand and comply with these requirements.
- Ensure the utilization of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) of CST team members to include steel toe boots gloves masks goggles etc.
- Ensure the uniformity of CST team member appearance to include the wearing of clothing provided by employer if applicable.
- Inspect evaluate and make corrections as necessary for work accomplished by the CST team.
- Maintain and ensure all team members are aware of current CPAC CST program policies and procedures.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for all products used by the CST team.
- Conduct and maintain monthly inventory of accountable items assigned to the CPAC CST and requisition items as necessary.
- Ensure all accountable items are clean and operational.
- Manage conduct and track CST team weekly monthly quarterly semiannual and annual training.
- Complete and submit all reporting requirements on time.
- Oversee manage timecard and expense report approvals.
Requirements - Hold or be capable of passing a background check to receive identification credentials through the Defense Biometric Identification System.
- Hold or be capable of obtaining a Secret clearance prior to being granted access to classified information up to the level of Secret.

- Possess two years of experience related to CPAC Programs and have
documented experience in Corrosion Service Team operations
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- During shortdurations CST ATLs are required to lift to 50 pounds safely.
- During moderatedurations CST ATLs are required to mount and dismount military and support equipment of varying heights safely.
- During longdurations CST ATLs are required to work in outdoor weather conditions (hot cold rain etc..
- During longdurations CST ATLs are required to wear and use company provided personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes but is not limited to: safety goggles hand protection and respirator equipment etc.
- Note: On a given day CST ATLs are required to wear either a dust mask or fitted respirator (depending upon the task performed) to apply Corrosion Preventive Compounds (CPCs) and/or Surface Preparation and TouchUp Paint. The employer will ensure CST ATLs undergo an annual OSHA 1910.134 App A Quantitative Respirator Fit Test.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or a vocational degree.
- Possess two years of experience related to CPAC Programs and have documented experience in Corrosion Service Team operations or be approved by the COR.
- CST ATLs are required to successfully complete annual CPAC recertification.
