WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
TheLongTerm Care Ombudsman Programin Aging and Disability Services is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic professionalto lead a dedicated team who helps to protect and improve the quality of care and quality of longterm care for Montgomery County residents through advocacy. The LongTerm Care Program is a residentcentered advocacy program. The Manager ensures that LTCOP accomplishes its goals to address resident right issues and concerns.
This Positionrequiresknowledge of the LTCOPin accordance withthe Older American Act.
The positionadvocates for County residents by interfacing with nursing homes group homes assisted living facilities staff residents and family of residents for the betterment of the aging population.
This position provides leadership that involves daytoday resolution of complex problems to reduce barriers to services and teamwork.
The position provides staff supervision implements regulations and procedures and is accountable for the effectiveness of the LongTerm Care Ombudsman Program.
The position manages nine merit staff responsible for complaint investigations and resolutions for over 7800 Long Term Care (LTC) beds in the County. The merit staffs conduct weekly facility visits develop inservice training for facility staff related to health care issues and organize family councils.
The program also recruits trains and supervises volunteers in 34 nursing homes and over 200 assisted living facilities. Volunteers investigates and resolves complaints from facilities residents and families. The program manager must ensure that the staff and volunteers have the necessary knowledgeskillsand training tofacilitatecomplaint resolution.
This position requires proven oral and written communication skills that include exercising tact and diplomacy where needed.
This position requires excellent organizational skills knowledge of LTC regulatory environment and the ability toanticipateand adapt to changes in all areas of management personnelpolicyand regulations.
In addition to the duties above this positionrepresentsthe County at Statewide Ombudsman meetings and serves on several taskforces addressing LTC residents rights the protection of vulnerable adults and end of life care and other duties as assigned.
Experience:Thorough five 5 years professional experienceworkingina LongTerm Care Ombudsman Programserving seniors and persons with significant disabilities in nursing facilities or assisted living facilitiesincluding35 years professional experience supervising staff.
Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with aBachelors Degree.
Equivalency:An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Preferred Criteria
Abachelors degree inHuman Services
At least three tofiveyears ofmanagerial experiences within a Health and Human Service Agency or relatedfield
At least five years of experience leading volunteer efforts: recruitment retention training supervision and recognition
Long Term Care Ombudsman certification
Interview Preference
Five years of practical knowledge of resolving complaints and mediation strategies.
Five years of knowledge on policies and federal guidelines directing the work of LongTerm Care Ombudsman.
