Job Description

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Fulltime position

PRIMARY DUTY:The Assistant Director will assist with administrative functions within the International Involvement Center. The Assistant Director is charged with supporting international students to create an environment of student success retention development and growth.

This position will assist incoming and current international students with essential immigration processes. This position has federal compliance responsibility and serves as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) which is managed by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This person must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Oversees the Principal Designated School Officials process and maintenance of Department of Homeland Security records for international students.

a. Is responsible for emergent situations including requests from the SEVP Field Representative U.S. Department of Homeland Security U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Customs and Border Protection FBI International Operations Division and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

b. Maintains federal requirements and expectations with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security U.S. Customs and Immigration Services and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

c. Develops and maintains records of F1 students in compliance with SEVP guidelines; assume responsibility to ensure other DSO staff members are aware of organizational changes and updates.

d. Maintains I17 Petition for Approval of School for Attendance by Nonimmigrant Students submission to SEVP to track all programs eligible for international student enrollment changes to DSO personnel site or location updates and any other requests from SEVP.

e. Is responsible for recertification program updates and any Requests for Evidence (RFE) from SEVP in a timely manner.

f. Processes weekly visa and I901 payment reports to update administration on enrollment projections.

g. Keeps current with any regulatory changes within immigration processes for international students in the United States.

2. Provides oversight of the immigration record management software utilized in the International Involvement Center and ensures consistency and accuracy amongst all records.

3. As the PDSO serves as the primary advisor to international students regarding immigration statuses in the U.S.

4. Assists with the development and deployment of international orientation.

5. Is responsible for the annual flag raising ceremony and international education day and assists with other programming within the International Involvement Center.

6. Processes enrollment and waivers for international student insurance enrollment each semester.

7. Serves as the University advisor for the International Student Organization (ISO).

8. Provides content for the International Involvement Center social media platforms.

9. Serves as point of contact for International Involvement Center in the absence of the Director.

10. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Masters degree; experience in lieu of degree will be considered

Certification/License: Drivers License; Valid passport

Experience: Five years of experience working with international student records in SEVIS; intercultural communication and interaction experience

Skills: Ability to prioritize processes during increased workload periods throughout the academic year and immigration cycle calendar; Must possess proficient skills in computing data entry/management time management and organization; must be able and willing to work with an ethnically diverse student population

Other: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident

WORKING CONDITIONS:This position will work in a fastpaced office setting in Maryville on the Northwest Missouri State University campus. This position may require some nontraditional work hours.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Will assist in supervision of office staff in the absence of the Director

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED:Office machines including computer and software (i.e. Word Excel Access PowerPoint etc.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Extended hours using desktop computers and LCD screens to enter data and produce documents and ability to lift up to 20 pounds
