General Responsibilities

This job is not a position that is being filled by ESD 112. Candidates for this position will be hired directly by the Skamania School District. If you are interested in ESD 112 positions please contact the ESD 112 HR Specialist RaeLynn Forcella at

Reporting to the District Superintendent. The Office Assistant at Skamania School is a pivotal role that ensures the smooth operation of the school office providing essential clerical support managing sensitive documents and acting as a liaison between students parents and the superintendent/principal. This position requires confidentiality strong organizational skills and adherence to district policies and procedures. The Office Assistant must be selfmotivated teamoriented and aligned with the districts goals

Terms of Employment:
The position requires a total of 195 contract days spanning from August through June starting in May 2025. Time: 7:45 am 3:45 pm w/ 30 minute unpaid lunch
Salary: $23.06$26.73 per hour.

Location:
This position will be located in Skamania Washington.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

Communication and Relationship Building:

  1. Develop positive working relationships with staff students parents directors community members ESD 112 personnel and local regional and state officials.
  2. Communicate effectively with the superintendent students families and colleagues.
  3. Bring updates and communication items to biweekly staff meetings recordings and distributing action items promptly.
General Operations:
  1. Organize and maintain a clean orderly office.
  2. Establish and maintain routine office procedures such as managing personnel/student files annual reporting and enrollment.
  3. Create and maintain a filing system for server and paper documents.
  4. Manage student health issues including first aid medication distribution and health records maintenance.
  5. Type and distribute school correspondence including letters memos bulletins and promotional materials.
  6. Maintain and communicate school calendar schedules.
Daily Operations:
  1. Answers phones professionally redirect calls take messages and place calls.
  2. Great guests warmly and professionally ensuring they sign in and monitoring access to the school.
  3. Supervise and support students in the office as directed by school administration and policies.
  4. Interact regularly with parents students and staff.
  5. Manage mail. including distribution and preparing school mailings.
Food Program:
  1. Maintain accurate daily meal count records.
  2. Personnel Management:
  3. Responsible for grant management oversight and support.
Health Aid Responsibilities:
  1. Administer first aid and shortterm care to students.
  2. Manage student medications and health records.
  3. Schedule vision and hearing screenings and maintain immunization records.
Student Attendance:
  1. Support the goal of high average daily attendance by managing attendance communication and incentives.
  2. Maintain accurate student attendance records in Skyward.
  3. Make calls to parents of absent students.
  4. Prepare weekly and monthly attendance reports.
Student Records:
  1. Maintain student health and discipline records.
Technology Management:
  1. Update the website and keep up to date with erate.
  2. Support the classroom technology needs and manage the security program.
  3. Manage state testing requirements.
Other Functions:
  1. Attend required training as needed.
  2. Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent/principal.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in an office role.
  3. Proficiency with office software including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  4. Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  6. Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  7. Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Associate degree or higher.
  2. Office experience in an educational setting.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions:

  1. School office environment.
  2. Extensive use of computer to complete tasks.
  3. Stationary and detailorientated tasks for extended periods.
  4. Frequent sitting stooping and bending.
  5. Regular attendance during scheduled 7.5 hour workdays.
  6. Some extended workdays evening meetings and summer work.
