As a Tutor Senior Tutor or Lecturer in Korean Studies at the University of Melbournes Asia Institute youll have the opportunity to shape the minds of future scholars. Youll deliver engaging courses on contemporary Korean society politics and international relations contributing to a growing programme established in 2017. This role offers you the chance to develop your teaching expertise engage in scholarly activities and be part of a vibrant academic community committed to promoting dialogue and understanding of Asian cultures.

Your responsibilities will include:

For a Level A position (Tutor/Senior Tutor):

  • Supporting subject coordinators in teaching delivery
  • Preparing and conducting tutorials seminars and possibly lectures
  • Assisting with course material development
  • Participating in administrative activities and meetings

For a Level B position (Lecturer):

  • Coordinating teaching activities for specific subjects
  • Developing subject materials and maintaining online learning platforms
  • Managing assessment processes and student consultations
  • Engaging in scholarly activities and potentially publishing research

You may be a great fit if:
You are a dedicated educator with a strong background in Korean studies particularly in areas of society politics and international relations and have experience teaching at the tertiary level with a commitment to engaging and supporting diverse student cohorts.

You may also:

  • Hold an Honours or Masters degree (for Tutor) or PhD (for Senior Tutor/Lecturer) in a relevant discipline.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of effective teaching and learning practices.
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create inclusive learning environments for diverse student cohorts.
  • Show a commitment to professional development and scholarly activities that enhance teaching.
  • Have an emerging record of pedagogical or academic research in your field.
