Lead Hardware Systems Engineer Fighters Mission Systems

The Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Lead Hardware Systems Engineer Fighters Mission Systems located in Berkeley MO.

Who We Are: The Fighter Mission Systems Navigation Data Link and Displays Hardware Team works with suppliers programs and customers to develop qualify test and deliver hardware (including its software & firmware) in support of the Boeing Fighters platforms. The team also provides expert technical assistance to government customers on the integration of government developed and/or purchased (GFE) navigation and data link systems onto both the F15 and F/A18 aircraft. The high performing and fast paced Navigation Data Link and Displays team is currently engaged in a number of exciting and highprofile development projects for both the F15 platform (both USAF and foreign customers) as well as the F/A18. These efforts are key to many of our customers achieving their operational goals.

What You Bring:

  • Ability to lead the engineering design development and analysis of commodities assigned to ensure seamless integration into higher level systems and platforms.
  • Consultation in the design development integration test and operational capability of various USAF USN and international programs.
  • Development validation and verification of requirements.
  • Overseeing the definition and of critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements baseline.
  • Technical leadership for critical aspects of supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.
  • Ability to support the products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use.
  • Mentor to less senior/experienced team members.

Both domestic and international travel is expected as a part of this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads work with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements on complex multitiered projects.
  • Leads analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Leads testing and validation work on complex system designs to assure that operational and functional requirements are met.
  • Works with other to develop program test strategies.
  • Manages performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Conducts program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership.
  • Provides critical support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Leads research into technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Makes recommendations for technology investments.
  • Recognized as a business unitwide expert in process development and qualification physical and functional integration and installation design and resolving supplier technical issues.

This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance PostStart is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
  • 14 years of workrelated experience plus a Bachelors degree OR 12 years of workrelated experience plus a Masters degree OR 9 years of workrelated experience plus a PhD

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior experience with DOORS
  • Prior experience working in an Avionics/Mission Systems discipline
  • Significant experience as a HW Engineer
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Prior experience developing/working on displays
  • Prior experience in supporting technical supplier development efforts

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 5: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD9 years related work experience Master12 years related work experience). In the USA ABET accreditation is the preferred although not required accreditation standard.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance PreStart and final U.S. Secret Clearance PostStart is required.
