Visy is powering the circular economy closing the loop between packaging recycling and remanufacturing. We believe materials are not truly recycled until theyre made into something newand it all starts with Visy Recycling. As Australias largest recycler our extensive network of recycling operations is integrated with our manufacturing sites. We collect and sort recyclable materials like paper cardboard glass plastics and metals from households and businesses and locally remanufacture them back into new sustainable packaging.
The Opportunity
We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity for a proactive experienced and passionate State Operations Manager to manage support and empower our talented Visy Recycling team primarily based Gibson Island with travel to our other site across QLD. This is a pivotal position reporting to the National Operations Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Queensland business complies with OHS&E legislation regulations and company policy P&L and day to day operations.
What youll do:
- Providing strategic leadership direction and development to your team.
- Maintaining a safe environment for workers and ensuring compliance with environmental responsibilities associated with Visy Recyclings QLD operations.
- Improving existing recycling processes and systems to ensure a safe and quality driven environment.
- Maximising profit and cash flow generated in the business with particular emphasis on the management of conversion costs and financial integrity.
- Managing the transport and logistics functions and maintain ongoing focus and understanding of the challenges associated with exports while ensuring international standards are continually being met.
- Ensuring the development of existing customer and supplier relationships
- Managing financial performance including setting and achieving budgets
What You Will Bring:
- Proven working knowledge of manufacturing and operations environment
- Strong capability in safety quality driven operational management
- Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to understand and read P&L reports and balance schedules
- A proven track record in the leadership of diverse functions and teams
- Strong performance around people management and development
- An ability to think strategically and tactically
- Customer and supplier relationship skills
- Knowledge and strong focus of HSE regulations
- Computer proficiency and experience using SAP
