UTILITY MAINTENANCE WORKER

POSITION TITLE: Utility Maintenance Worker
DEPARTMENT: Public Works Department
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Public Works Director
STATUS: FullTime
EFFECTIVE DATE: April 14 2025
Pay Range: $22.24$27.44 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY
Under supervision of the Public Works Director operates and maintains the sanitary sewer and water distribution systems street maintenance boulevards city parking lots grounds beach area and reads water meters.
JOB DUTIES OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this position successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education experiences and training required.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Licenses
Class D wastewater license or ability to attain one
Class C water license or ability to attain one
MN State Drivers License
MN State Class B CDL license or ability to attain one
Experience
2 years minimum in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education experience and training preferred in order to exceptionally perform all of the functions of this position.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Licenses
Class B CDL Minnesota State Drivers License
Class D wastewater license
Class C water treatment license
MN State Drivers License
Experience
2 years minimum in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
Street maintenance and/or construction and underground utilities
Operate motorized heavy equipment hand and power tools and the maintenance thereof
Communications with the public
Operate computer fax copier etc.
Experience in the operations services and activities of a municipal water production and distribution program and a municipal wastewater collection program.

Hazard
The employee is required to sit stand walk climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl up to 1/3 of the time. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms 1/3 up to 2/3 of the time.
The employee must lift up to 100 pounds or more on a frequent basis 1/3 (or more of the time).
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
