Job Description
Role: Automation Engineer Drives & Controls
Location: Can work out of either the CT or NY plant
Travel: 40 (Domestic & International)
Salary: $130000 $145000
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support aftermarket drives and controls systems. This role will focus on developing PLC/HMI systems integrating legacy equipment and providing technical support for system upgrades and modernizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop PLC programs using ladder logic function block diagrams and flow charts
- Design and implement HMI applications for web converting equipment
- Design review and troubleshoot PLC network architecture
- Configure and integrate AC/DC drive systems (including legacy hardware)
- Perform inhouse testing and validation of software/systems
- Provide technical support during system startup and commissioning (onsite and remote)
- Assist sales with system assessments and technical documentation
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with engineering sales and service teams
- Support ISO 9001:2015 ISO 14001:2015 and EHS&S initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering
- 710 years of experience in Controls or Automation Engineering
- Proficient in AllenBradley and/or Siemens PLC platforms
- Handson experience with AC/DC drives AutoCAD and supervisory control systems
- Strong knowledge of industrial control networks
- Web handling or converting equipment experience is a plus
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex automation issues
- Excellent communication organizational and documentation skills
- Proficiency with Windows OS Microsoft Office Suite and industrial programming tools:
- Ladder Logic
- Control Block Diagramming
- HMI Configuration
- Drives Interface/Programming Software
