Purpose of Position:
Student Ambassadors serve as a vital link between our institution and the broader student community. Their primary role is representing the college both on and offcampus while fostering a sense of pride and engagement among current and prospective students demonstrating leadership qualities that inspire others to get involved and make a difference.
This position starts in August 2025 for the Autumn 2025 semester.
This position is open to students with or without Federal Work Study eligibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Campus Representation: Act as a visible and approachable representative of our institution during campus events tours orientations and various promotional activities.
- Student Engagement: Engage with current students to gather feedback address concerns and promote involvement in campus activities clubs and initiatives.
- Recruitment Support: Assist in recruitment efforts by sharing personal experiences insights and perspectives with prospective students and their families during campus tours open houses and recruitment events.
- Social Media Promotion: Utilize social media platforms to share stories events and updates about campus life academics and extracurricular activities while encouraging interaction and engagement from both current and prospective students.
- Community Outreach: Collaborate with local schools organizations and community groups to promote educational opportunities volunteerism and engagement with our institution.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training sessions and workshops to enhance communication skills leadership abilities and knowledge of institutional policies and programs.
- Feedback and Reporting: Provide regular feedback to the Student Ambassador Coordinator or relevant administrative staff regarding student sentiments concerns and suggestions for improvement.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.
- Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty staff students and members of the community.
- Work a consistent reliable schedule and exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Institutional Knowledge: An understanding of the institutions history mission values academic programs extracurricular opportunities and campus resources.
- Student Services: Knowledge of student support services such as academic advising counseling career services and campus health resources to effectively guide and assist fellow students.
- Campus Life: Awareness of campus events clubs organizations and activities to promote engagement and a sense of community among students.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Awareness of and appreciation for diversity and inclusion principles to ensure all students feel welcome and supported on campus.
Skill in:
- Communication: Proficiency in verbal and written communication to effectively convey information engage with diverse audiences and represent the institution professionally.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Understanding of leadership principles and teamwork dynamics to collaborate with other ambassadors and campus staff in organizing events initiatives and outreach efforts.
Ability to:
- Community Engagement: Understanding of the local community and regional educational landscape to facilitate partnerships outreach activities and collaboration with external stakeholders.
- Professional Development: Awareness of opportunities for personal and professional development such as workshops conferences and leadership programs to enhance skills and effectiveness as a student ambassador.
Minimum/General Qualifications:
This position requires that any applicant be enrolled as a current student at Columbus State in three or more credit hours in a degree or certificate seeking program. Visit for a full explanation of eligibility requirements for student employment at Columbus State.
OR
This position requires applicants to have Federal Work Study as part of their current Financial Aid package with Columbus State. You must also be enrolled in SIX or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program. Visit for a full explanation of eligibility requirements or visit Nestor Hall 113 to request Federal Work Study if you were not awarded it already. Any applicants without Federal Work Study eligibility will not be considered for this position.
Applicants must have received a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109.
Must have reliable transportation or other means to get to work regularly.
Students enrolled as Transient College Credit Plus Undecided or otherwise nondegreeseeking are not considered eligible for Student Employment.
Schedule:
- TBD by the needs of department and student schedule between office hours of Monday Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
- Some evening and weekend availability depending on events/activities.
- Maximum 20 hours per week with a commitment to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
- Students must be available 2pm 4pm on Wednesdays with other office hours being flexible.
- Work will be performed: Hybrid of Remote and OnSite.

Position Specific Qualifications:
Attend a 2 hour training meeting every week during Fall and Spring semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous leadership experience (volunteer paid or academic)
- Federal Work Study status is preferred but College Work Study is still eligible to apply
- Commit to a minimum of 10 work hours per week
- Availability to work during all semester breaks if needed this does not include holiday breaks

Students employed by Columbus State are exposed to professional work environments where they develop many of the important transferable skills necessary for future success in the workforce. CSTATE GROW (Guided Reflections on Work)
The program consists of brief structured conversations between supervisor and student to reflect on and integrate what they are learning. All student employees and their functional supervisors participate in this program during Autumn and Spring semesters.
Career and Leadership Development Program (CLDP)
The program consists of paid competencybased career and leadership development activities designed by Career Services. All Tier/Level III positions are automatically enrolled in this program.
