The Government Finance and Reimbursement Leader serves as Sutter Healths primary financial advisor on all matters related to government reimbursement programs including Medicare and MediCal. This position is critical in developing strategic solutions for complex accounting and financial reporting issues while supporting senior leadership in evaluating and responding to changes in reimbursement policy and program structure.Job Description:
EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelors: Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field or equivalent education/experience
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
12 years of recent relevant experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Strong background in healthcare accounting principles with specific experience in governmental program accounting.
Handson experience analyzing and interpreting federal and California state healthcare reimbursement rules and regulations.
Experience resolving complex financial reporting issues particularly those related to cost allocation revenue recognition and compliance with government regulations.
Deep experience with developing and reviewing budgets financial forecasts and pro forma models for healthcare organizations.
Skilled in presenting complex reimbursement and financial issues in a clear concise manner to both finance and nonfinance audiences.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of accounting and/or finance operations.
Working knowledge of basic principles and methods of accounting auditing and financial reporting including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Understands the business and service organization best practices.
Strategic skills for reviewing processes and strategies to ensure successful alignment with business needs and for identifying improvement opportunities
Analytical skills with proven ability to resolve issues/problems by leveraging business and functional knowledge and client relationships.
Ability to manage projects from inception to successful implementation.
Ability to operate strategically and tactically.
Demonstrates credible leadership presence with the ability to respond to questions with logic clarity calmness and authority.
Ability to influence others by persuasion negotiation and problem solving and to move others to recognize and appreciate different points of view and to consider/accept alternative options.
Collaborative working style to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various project participants and/or stakeholders.
Demonstrates a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues to manage/minimize risks.

Ability to communicate through verbal and written means and to present concepts and information in a manner that is readily understood by management and employees.

Pay Range is $91.30 to $146.08 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidates experience education skills licensure and certifications department equity training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
