Job Summary: Responsible for managing a team of laboratory staff within a large department or several related departments. Assisting with administration of laboratory testing in accordance with applicable regulations governing clinical laboratories. Contributing to establishing departmental strategy and driving achievement of objectives for annual success of lab operations.
What youll be doing:
- Managing and directing the daily activities of assigned laboratory work group(s) through appropriate delegation technical skills training and work supervision.
- Screening and assigning workload planning prioritizing and assigning tasks and projects.
- Partnering with leadership to develop performance standards.
- Hiring training managing performance and developing staff.
- Contributing to departmental strategy and establishing goals and objectives for team members to achieve operational results.
- Identifying and driving opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation. Participating in budget planning based on revenue targets and financial goals including consumables instrumentation and resourcing needs.
- Serving as an escalation point to resolve challenges in operations quality safety and supply chain efficiencies across multiple departments.
- Ensuring safety and regulatory compliance collaborating with QA and EHS to implement enhancements supporting operational capacity.
- Acting as primary business continuity representative for area of accountability.
- Driving CAPA closure and resolution quality compliance and metrics oversight of quality incidents and resolution root cause analysis and improvements.
- Fostering a continuous improvement and qualityoriented culture.
- Assisting in establishing and revising laboratory policies and procedures maintaining appropriate control and quality assurance procedures.
- Staying abreast of new technical developments and assisting with implementing new tests equipment programs and/or procedures in the assigned area(s) as needed.
- Fostering a unified culture and facilitate collaboration cooperation sharing of information and teamwork. Participating in initiatives to improve employee engagement to positively impact operational results customer satisfaction and employee retention.
- Managing staff in accordance with organizations policies and applicable regulations.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelors Degree in a health science field.
- Ph.D. in cell biology protein sciences biochemistry or related discipline preferred.
- 9 years of experience in a regulated laboratory environment or leading within a quality assurance framework.
- 4 years of experience leading a team with direct personnel management experience.
- Other Equivalent combination of education training and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
The knowledge skills and abilities needed for this role:
- Practical knowledge in leading and managing the of processes projects and tactics within one department or multiple related departments.
- Strong technical understanding of operations and methods with indepth knowledge of study setup and crossfunctional/system dependencies.
- Indepth knowledge of clinical testing procedures and applicable laboratory testing regulations.
- Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles and companyspecific program requirements.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health rules and regulations.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Effective supervision and coaching skills.
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks projects and demands.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers managers and clients.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to influence at various levels of the business including senior leadership.
