About the role

The Group Financial Reporting team is responsible for the production of the Annual report and accounts (ARA) and Half year results (HYR) announcement including the strategic report. The team also supports a range of additional reporting and technical accounting related tasks as required and provides technical guidance on a range of issues to the Finance function and the rest of the business.

We are recruiting for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Group Financial Reporting Team on a 12 Month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team which is central to the external communication and reporting of the Groups results.

This role reports to the Senior Financial Reporting manager and you will be responsible for ensuring key financial deliverables are produced to a high standard and on a timely basis. This role also offers exposure across the business/wider finance function including Investor relations Communications Tax and Business performance. The role requires strong communication and influencing skills in dealings with senior management and their teams.

Youll work within an area committed to producing high quality work to tight deadlines with a focus on continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and the ability to prepare and present financial statements and reports in accordance with Group requirements.

  • Subsidiary data and commentary submissions are reviewed analysed and challenged to ensure information provided is accurate and appropriate.

  • Support elements of the monthly/quarterly reporting process including segmental reporting and associates/joint venture reporting.

  • Supporting technical accounting work; including application of accounting standards and impairment review assessments.

  • Preparation and review of the Strategic report and Management report of the Groups ARA and HYR announcements. Supporting enhancements to corporate reporting and review of best practice reporting.

  • Develop finance systems knowledge to ensure optimal use of technology to drive insight and analysis and develop internal control framework.

  • Deliver continuous process/quality improvements looking to add value by challenging existing practices and designing developing and implementing changes to ensure reporting is in line with industry best practice and adds value.

  • Maintain a wellcontrolled reporting environment for internal and external reporting processes.

About The candidate

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA ACCA ICAS or equivalent)

  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles practices and processes.

  • Extensive knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS)

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Takes personal accountability for quality and delivery.

  • Ability to take initiative through proactive and constructive action.

  • Strong communicator with effective verbal and written communication skills who can adapt communication styles to suit different audiences.
