The North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA)
NCLCA is the integrated cancer system for north central London and is hosted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).

The Role
This post is hosted by UCLPartners on behalf of NCL Cancer Alliance. The post holder will work in collaboration with cancer clinical and operational colleagues to develop implement and oversee a portfolio of projects under the Cancer Alliance Innovation Programme with a specific focus on early diagnosis. They will manage the delivery of projects to deadline and within budget to deliver on agreed outcomes. The post holder will keep abreast of good practice and innovation in their area of work and initiate and support the development of new service proposals working with the wider UCLPartners Enterprise team and innovation pipeline in early cancer diagnosis.
The Enterprise function is the front door to industry and small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs). We focus on engaging with industry and SMEs to create partnerships and collaborations with our health system partners (trusts ICBs PCNs etc. to support the adoption and spread of proven innovations into the NHS.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify test and drive the adoption of innovation projects under the Cancer Alliance Innovation Programme with a specific focus on early diagnosis.
- Develop and implement project and programme plans.
- Lead design and manage multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity.
- Map and support activities in relation to identifying problems/challenges or opportunities developing needs assessments and delivering market scans.
- Cultivate and build new relationships between health technology companies and innovations related to early cancer diagnosis and relevant NHS stakeholders.
- Collaborate with NHS partners industry and other stakeholders to capture and share learnings to support innovation development from research to implementation.
- Manage and provide assurance on projects within the Cancer Alliance internal governance processes and structure.
- Manage risk effectively escalating issues and developing mitigation plans as necessary.
- Provide strategic overview to all project stakeholders.
- Ensure effective stakeholder engagement persuading and influencing organisations and individuals to participate in projects.
- Disseminate findings of projects amongst stakeholders and at meetings and report as and when required to the Cancer Alliance governance.
- Deputise for the NCL Cancer Alliance Associate Programme Director when required covering such meetings and duties as may be required.
- Build credibility and relationships with and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with the wider Enterprise team at UCLPartners in seeking and identifying new opportunities for the Cancer Alliance.
- Coordinate evaluation and data collection including learning and insights for the Innovation Programme.
- Demonstrate a commitment to equity diversity and inclusion and an understanding of how these principles apply to this role both internally and externally.
- Ensure the involvement of patient and public representatives in project design and delivery.
- Ensure project implementation is accessible and equitable and does not exacerbate health inequalities.
You
- Understanding or specialist knowledge in the adoption of innovation including the barriers and conditions for success.
- Experience of working in partnership and ability to build relationships and credibility to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience working within the NHS in a transformation role experience in an innovation life science (health technology) or health research setting is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience and skills in project management methodologies and techniques for planning monitoring and controlling including resource planning and risk management.
- Ability to influence and negotiate across organisations constructively challenging the status quo.
- Ability to present complex and sensitive information where persuasive negotiating empathetic and/or reassurance skills are required.
- Experience in making judgements involving complex facts or situations requiring the analysis interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
- Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects in a fastpaced environment.
- Proactive and results oriented with the ability to develop creative practical and workable solutions.
- Experience in managing diverse project teams effectively utilising appropriate performance and monitoring tools.
- A strong commitment to equity and diverse and inclusive teams and principles.
- An understanding of the importance of patient carer and community involvement in the effective development adoption and spread of health innovation.
- An enthusiasm for and knowledge of health innovation.
- Ability to think and plan strategically tactically and creatively.
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation.
- Understanding of national health and social care strategy and policy.
- Good IT skills particularly in the use of MS Office.

Job details
The Senior Enterprise Manager NCL Cancer Alliance Innovation Programme will report to the Director of Solutions. The role is a 12month fixed term position with a 37.5 hour work week. The post holder will have a dotted reporting line to the Associate Programme Director for NCL Cancer Alliance. The remuneration for this post is competitive depending on skills and experience with a salary range of 61800 to 72100 per annum.
We offer flexible working arrangements and support hybrid working at UCLPartners. All staff will typically spend a minimum of 40 of their working time at the UCLPartners office i.e. for a minimum of 2 days/week if fulltime or 40 of your working time for parttime staff. This can be averaged over a 3month period.
