Job Description
Certified Medical Assistant
- Assist providers during medical examinations of children where there has been suspected child abuse orneglect by performing the following functions: obtain patient vital signs and measurements plotmeasurements on growth charts assist in sexual exams assist with forensic photography performblood draws for HIV/RPR and perform followup phone calls regarding nPEP HIV prophylaxis protocol assistwith telemedicine exams at satellite offices.
- Keep exam rooms and cabinets fully stocked copy forms body diagrams and growth charts for exam roomsdiscard expired medications and supplies monitor the evidence room and contact law enforcement officers topick up evidence when needed monitor the lab refrigerator light cleaning and room disinfection after examscheck AED monthly and maintain log call for biomedical waste and laundry pickups and organize andmaintain Jays closet (CPT supplies for exams).
- Report abnormal STD results to the Department of Health upload exam photos to the shared CPT drivecopy fax and scan medical reports assist with maintaining documents for clinic certification (AHCA CLIA andUF safety) act as liaison with other UF departments such as UF CARES (Rainbow) Clinic.
$16 to $19 per hour depending on education and experience.
Successful completion of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam offered by an appropriate accredited institute. Appropriate institutes include the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) the American Medical Technologists (AMT) the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA).
