What you will be doing:

  • Supervise coordinate plan schedule and monitor the maintenance repair minor renovation construction and administrative activities of maintenance personnel and contract personnel.
  • Ensure the care and maintenance of facilities supplies equipment and work areas for the safe reliable and efficient operation of building systems.
  • Consult with Directors and Managers of Engineering & Maintenance on assignments and projects keeping them informed of related activities needs and problems.
  • Advise on building and system conditions that warrant emergency repairs and improvements.
  • Assist in developing capital projects and operating expense budgets progress reports and other special projects as needed.
  • Schedule and implement activities for assigned maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of workload in maintenance repairs renovation and general building maintenance.
  • Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance of facility systems equipment and other items.
  • Perform inspections and make recommendations for needed repairs replacements or installations.
  • Provide information for facility planning and prepare reports and documents as required.
  • Review work orders prioritize assignments inform management of status and time schedules and ensure work is completed as specified.
  • Establish maintain and monitor activity objectives production standards work flow while complying with all codes regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of staff work time and specific work functions.
  • Support fire and life safety and other compliance and regulatory efforts.
  • Select orient train coach evaluate and discipline assigned personnel.
  • Encourage and assist in the professional growth and development of staff meet departmental training goals and participate in department inservices.

Experience you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education required; associates degree preferred.
  • Technical training or completion of apprenticeship in one or more of the trades preferred.
  • Four years of lead or supervisory experience in maintenance or construction management required.
  • Licensed as a tradesperson preferred.
  • Valid Virginia Driver s License required.
  • Knowledge of and ability in blueprint reading CAD drafting estimating building construction standards and national state and local codes and regulations specific to the crafts associated with construction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications.
  • Genuine interest in the development of subordinates to meet institutional and patient care needs.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use Microsoft Office Suite and a work order control system.
  • Position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency weather conditions.
