Job Description

Adelphi is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to assist in providing services to students in a school district in New York. The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Occupational Therapist in providing services to eligible special education students within the school district. The ideal candidate will have a current active New York State Board License as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

Requirements:
Associate s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution
Current active New York State Board License as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Minimum of one year of experience in a school setting is preferred
Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and compliance requirements

Responsibilities:
Work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
Provide direct occupational therapy to children with disabilities (ages 321 in Early Childhood and K12 Special Education Programs under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
Assist in conducting comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations by gathering data and implementing assessments
Support the implementation of IEP goals and therapy interventions developed by the Occupational Therapist
Maintain accurate documentation including Medicaid billing and required service records
Provide input on assistive technology and classroom accommodations to support student participation
Collaborate with teachers parents and other school professionals to support student progress
Assist in training teachers paraprofessionals and staff on fine motor skills sensory processing and other occupational therapy strategies
Participate in IEP meetings and staff consultations as needed
Provide services in a variety of settings including classrooms therapy rooms and homebound environments as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
Submit progress reports and other required documentation in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned by administration.
