Job Description

This is a 12week position covering a leave of absence. The approximate dates are from September 25 December 18 2025. The daily rate of pay will be $450/day. There are no additional benefits associated with this position. Must hold current certification as principal/assistant principal in Massachusetts.

JOB TITLE: ActingPrincipal

LOCATION:Anne Bradstreet Early Childhood Center
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree in education administration or a related field (required).
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure as an elementary school principal/assistant principal (required).
  • Minimum five years of successful elementary teaching experience.
  • Minimum three years of administrative experience within a school district.
  • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrative Endorsement (preferred).
  • Strong background in curriculum development instructional leadership and student support services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

Instructional Leadership & Student Achievement

  • Establishes and maintains a safe positive and effective learning environment that fosters high expectations academic excellence and student engagement.
  • Leads datadriven decisionmaking to assess student performance and improve instructional strategies.
  • Oversees curriculum development instructional programming and intervention strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Leads the MultiTiered System of Support (MTSS) to ensure all students receive appropriate academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Oversees and supports the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans.

Staff Supervision Professional Development & Team Building

  • Recruits screens hires and assigns highly qualified instructional and support staff.
  • Observes evaluates and mentors teachers and staff using the DESE Educator Evaluation System.
  • Facilitates professional development opportunities to support educator growth instructional excellence and collaboration.
  • Promotes teacher leadership and shared decisionmaking within the school.

School Operations & Strategic Planning

  • Develops and implements a master schedule that supports instructional goals and maximizes learning opportunities.
  • Organizes and oversees the schools MCAS assessment schedule and district benchmark assessments.
  • Collaborates with district leadership to develop review and update school policies procedures and handbooks.
  • Ensures efficient daytoday operations including budget management resource allocation and school safety.
  • Prepares and administers the school budget ensuring alignment with district goals and financial responsibility.

School Culture Family Engagement & Community Partnerships

  • Cultivates a positive inclusive and supportive school culture rooted in RAISE values (Respect Achievement Inclusion Service Empathy).
  • Builds strong relationships with students staff families and community stakeholders to foster a collaborative learning environment.
  • Promotes open communication with families encouraging parental involvement and engagement.
  • Enhances public relations efforts to strengthen the schools visibility and reputation within the community.
  • Celebrates student and staff achievements to foster school pride and motivation.

Professional Growth & Continuous Learning

  • Stays current with educational research best practices and policy updates to drive continuous school improvement.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and leadership training.
  • Serves as an active participant in districtwide initiatives committees and School Committee meetings.
  • Adapts to emerging challenges and opportunities in education with resilience and innovation.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Contract Year: July 1 June 30 220 days total)
    • 184 days: School calendar days.
    • 36 days: Additional workdays scheduled in collaboration with the Superintendent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to navigate all areas of the school and district facilities as required.
