Position Details:


The Autism Center at the Child Mind Instituteis pleased to offer an 11week summer internship foran accomplishedundergraduate students.The internship is designed for studentsinterested in careers in child mental health medicine education and special education public health neuroscience and other related areas. The internship provides a comprehensive experience in the autism and related disorders. The Autism Center at the Child Mind Institute is an integrated research lab and clinical center dedicated to supporting toddlers children adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders and related challenges.

The 2024Clinical Summer Internship atChild Mind Institutebegins onMondayJune2 2025and ends onFridayAugust 15 2025.This internship experience is a fulltime 40hour per week experience and selected interns are expected to be available for the duration of the internship.

The intern will work fulltime at the Child Mind Institute in midtown Manhattan easily accessible bypublic support for public transportation may be available.

Learning Opportunities:

In the Autism Center research lab the intern will have exposure to diagnostic assessments including the evaluation of developmental cognitive language and socialemotional functioning and the use of gold standard autism diagnostic instruments including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS2 and Autism Diagnostic InterviewRevised (ADIR).

Writing treatment and testing progress notes.

In the clinical practice the intern will be exposed to evidencebased treatments for autism including Applied Behavior Analysis Project Impact and social skills curricula such a LEGObased therapy and PEERS

Opportunities to shadow clinicians during treatment and evaluation sessions and provide direct support to clinicians during clinical treatment sessions.

Attend interdisciplinary clinical/research team meetings.

Interns also participate in numerous didactics provided by clinical faculty which span a variety of topics and include mentorship in preparing for graduate or medical school as well as a career in the mental health field. The weekly didactics will also include review of assigned seminal readings in the field.

You Will:

Complete a literature review under the mentorship of a faculty clinician and prepare a presentation for theChild Mind Institutecommunity at large at the end of the internship.

Interns assist in completing special projects assigned by faculty clinicians and by providing general office support.

Supervised research and clinical experiences with children and adolescents with autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders Coleading treatment groups.

Writing treatment and testing progress notes and receiving feedback from supervisors.

You Have:

Current undergraduate student with a background in psychology.

Eligibility to participate in an offsite internship program.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Availability to participate in a fully onsite internship.
