You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailA Spanish language teacher in an IB school is responsible for teaching a foreign language to students in elementary middle and high school. The job description includes teaching the language assessing student progress creating lesson plans and facilitating cultural understanding between students and their peers. Foreign language teachers in IB schools work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to design and implement curriculum that aligns with the IB framework. They may also be tasked with supervising students on language immersion trips or extracurricular activities. Additionally they will be expected to maintain their proficiency in the language they teach by participating in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
Preparing lesson plans that incorporate current educational theories and practices
Planning field trips to promote language acquisition such as visiting museums or other cultural sites
Providing oneonone instruction to students who have difficulty grasping a concept
Creating engaging classroom activities that encourage student participation and make learning fun
Conducting classroom activities such as games or discussions related to a topic in order to engage students in the lesson
Evaluating student progress by administering tests or providing written feedback on homework assignments
Assisting in the development of new curricula and materials used in the classroom
Conducting research on topics related to the foreign language being taught such as literature history culture or linguistics
Prepare lectures to deliver to students about basic principles of the Spanish language as well as information related to their culture.
Develop course materials for students to complete in the classroom and in their free time which includes handouts essays and additional homework assignments.
Evaluate students performances including grading homework assignments and making note of how well students participate in discussions.
Participate in schoolwide activities such as workshops and special events to recruit new students for the upcoming school year.
Speak with students parents to inform them of their childs progress in the classroom.
Collaborate with other teachers to develop schoolwide policies and create an overall better learning environment.
Qualifications Experience Skills & Knowledge:
Bachelors/Masters degree in the Spanish language
3 or more years of experience of teaching spanish from EY grades to middle school.
Thorough understanding of the language.
Preferably completed a training program to learn the grammar pronunciation and writing style of the language.
Prior experience of teaching the language.
Ability to lead a classroom
Ability to make each student feel safe
