Pfizer Ventures (PV) the venture capital arm of Pfizer Inc. was founded in 2004 and invests in areas of current or future strategic interest to Pfizer with the goal of remaining at the forefront of life science advances. We identify and invest in emerging companies that are developing transformative medicines and technologies that have the potential to enhance Pfizers pipeline and deliver breakthroughs that will change patients lives. We support Worldwide Business Development on transactions that involve equity and colead with Treasury the management of the strategic equity portfolio for Pfizer. The secondee role would be involved in all aspects of deal sourcing and management including the management of Pfizers strategic equity portfolio.
What You Will Achieve
General
Assist and support PV team members in new opportunity evaluation and deal process
Deal and pipeline management including deal review and tracking deal meetings etc
Prepare and maintain internal documentation on potential investments/portfolio companies including investment memos and scientific analyses
Assist with creating updating and maintaining firm databases
Create presentations highlighting key scientific analysis paired with market analysis
Participate actively in portfolio management and fund strategy.
Support existing portfolio company investments by coordinating interactions with the various stakeholders (Pfizer Ventures Treasury Legal Tax etc)
Track portfolio company progress from one board meeting to next including financials & clinical development
Prepare and maintain portfolio summaries assets in development TAs modalities etc
Maintain all PV slide decks for internal and external use
Perform other tasks as necessary to support the team
Public Equity Tracking
Engage with companies in the public equity portfolio on a quarterly basis as well as ad hoc around data readouts and other major events to support equity position management and target valuation decisions on holdings
Connect with internal R&D and BD colleagues to stay updated on level of strategic fit relationships (eg SAB collaboration agreements) to inform management of portfolio/exits
Liaise with Treasury regarding sale of public equities updates to Cobalt database reporting to management
Transactions
Support all aspects of equity transaction including modeling cap table management
Support diligence and Legal document review
Manage internal audit requirements for all transactions CP105 and Investment Committee approvals
Maintain files of transaction documents in Teams
Process administrative requests to support portfolio company eg proxies lockups
Finance Support and Database Management
Support tracking of Pfizers equity investments through Cobalt
Liaise with GBS team controllers treasury to plan and execute corporate cash transfers
Support Finance to manage incoming cash for appropriate SAP recording and tax consideration
For IPOs track share transfers from company to transfer agent to PFE broker/manager and track lockup agreements
Prepare valuation and waterfall returns analysis as needed
Generate reports as needed for Treasury Finance SEC reporting GBS Audit Risk management & tax
Routinely confirm accuracy of key metrics eg shares owned price and percent ownership
Help maintain deal flow database internal procedures documentation and Teams channels
Qualifications
MustHave
Bachelors degree with 8 years of experience in any of the following areas: business or corporate development venture capital tech transfer strategic consulting investment banking equity research in life sciences
Exceptional written verbal and interpersonal skills (including networking) are required
Must be able to proactively prioritize competing demands and deliver highquality results
Ability to thrive in a fastpaced challenging entrepreneurial and teamoriented environment
Having strong analytical skills as well as high attention to detail
