Job Description

Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the nontenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include high quality teaching of CHOP fellows and residents as well as medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine University of Pennsylvania.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing coverage in two inpatient consultation services one service focused on children with general infectious diseases and another dedicated to the care of immunocompromised hosts. Additionally as CHOP expands its footprint (i.e. King of Prussia
Hospital) and the Division of Infectious Diseases partners with outside organizations some local travel may be required. The division also has a busy outpatient clinical practice. In addition to our General Infectious Diseases Clinic we have dedicated partnerclinics to provide collaborative outpatient care to outpatients with other underlying conditions including malignancies bone marrow and organ transplantation and cystic fibrosis.

Administrative responsibilities may include providing medical leadership for the Department of Infection Prevention and Control as an Associate Medical Director. The department supports the Philadelphia campus hospital newly built King of Prussia Hospital 4 ambulatory surgery centers and an expansive primary care and specialty care network. The Associate Medical Director collaborates with and supports the System Director of Infection Prevention and Control in setting and implementing an agenda that advances institutional goals and objectives to eliminate healthcareassociated infections and advance the field of pediatric infection prevention. The Medical Director works with the Associate Medical Directors of Infection Prevention and Control in the of institutional initiatives with a focus on prevention practices safety quality operational excellence financial stewardship patientfamily experience and in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. With matrixed reporting to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of the Office or Preparedness Prevention and Response (OPPR) the Associate Medical Director participates in and leads institutional projects and initiatives and acts as an institutional physician ambassador internally and externally.
