EL Paraprofessional 7 hrs EL Department
Department: EL Department
Rate of Pay: $16.07 per hour
PERS Retirement: The district assumes and pays the 6 average employee contribution to
the Oregon PERS system.

FUNCTION: To assist the schools ELD teachers to provide support for ELs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
EL Parapro:
Assist with placement tests and annual state assessments of EL students;
Interpret for students in class and assist with translation technology; ;
Assist in ELD classroom as scheduled by ELD teacher;
Tutor individual students/small groups;
Parentteacher conferences support;
Other duties as directed by ELD teacher principal or program coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree or pass paraprofessional skills test prior to employment; or High school graduate/GED and pass paraprofessional skills test prior to employment.
Computer skills including knowledge of Excel Word and ability to learn new programs
Fluent written and verbal skills in Spanish and English
Proven organizational skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance
instructions and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before staff
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers
common fraction and decimals
Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of office practices and procedures;
Office machine and basic computer application skills required;
Ability to learn new computer application skills and apply them to the job;
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees
supervisors students and the public;
Ability to work on more than one project at a time with interruptions;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing;
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies;
Ability to adapt to situations quickly.
