Job Summary

Career Services mission is to empower and support Redbirds to achieve their professional goals by providing resources experiences and industry connections. The primary function of the Career Programming Graduate Assistant is to offer programs and events that link student and alumni populations to career development and career readiness opportunities. The CPGA plans and implements programs and events assists with career fairs and works to aid in achieving the goals of the Career Services department.

The CPGA will assist their direct supervisor the Program Coordinator for Student Relations with the planning and of programs and events.

Specific duties include:

Work with the Student Relations team to initiate and execute programs to enhance students overall career readiness.
Collect and compile data and write reports on programs to be presented in the Career Services Annual Report.
Cocreate assessment instruments to assess program and event outcomes.
Research and assess best practices specifically related to student career readiness and compile results.
Develop program ideas to assist students with career development and career readiness based on NACE career competencies.
Develop outreach activities that encourage students to participate in Career Services programs and events.
Develop relationships with student groups to promote programs hosted by Career Services.
Facilitate inperson and virtual programs and events by conducting preevent planning hosting the event logistical setup support and closing the event.
Work with all functional areas of Career Services to promote programs and services.
Participate in appropriate office teams and committees and assume leadership when requested.
Participate in evening/weekend career event activities including and in addition to all career fairs Career Services programs and University events.
Conduct benchmarking and research on career programs and events specifically for targeted populations.
Perform various business functions including accounts payable and receivables for various career events.
Participate in Student Relations Team meetings.
Assist with special projects

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$1510 for 0.5 FTE appointment

Required Qualifications

1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following graduate programs in College Student Personnel Administration.
3. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work is required. GRE may be required for some programs
4. Strong interpersonal leadership and communication skills both verbal and written
5. Willingness to work in a team environment
6. Experience giving presentations to varying size audiences
7. Detailoriented critical thinking and problemsolving skills a must
8. Ability to work effectively on several projects simultaneously
9. Ability to work cooperatively in a team
10. Technical skills including Microsoft Office Suite
11. Ability to work evenings and weekends

his is a 9.5 month Graduate Assistantship with a contract period from August 4 2025 May 8 2026. As a GA you will be expected to adhere to the University Administrative Calendar and all expectations as set forth in the offer letter. Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of oncampus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of oncampus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
