Homeless Liaison McKinneyVento

Wenatchee High School/District Office

4 hours per day/201 days per year

DESCRIPTION:The McKinneyVento Liaison is a critical position in service to students who are homeless or
unaccompained. As students are identified it is the role of the Liaison to collaborate with all stakeholders to identify and remove barriers to education these students may Homeless Liaison must coordinate and collaborate with OSPI community and school personnel responsible for providing education and related services to students experiencing homelessness. This coordination includes collecting and providing OSPI with reliable valid and comprehensive data on students experiencing homelessness per the requirements of the McKinneyVento (MKV) Act. Responsibilities also include seeking additional funding to support MKV eligible students and families through public and private grants and partnerships. Manage State and Federal homeless grants. Arrange transportation and other services for homeless students. Provide training and professional development for staff. Monitor homeless student data and information. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints regarding McKinneyVento compliance. Collaborate with community agencies regarding services to families and children. Liaisons are required to attend regular training provided through OSPI and respond to other duties as assigned. *This is a grant funded position. Continuing employment subject to funds being available.

QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent. AA degree or higher preferred. BA in social services preferred. Social Worker or related experience preferred. Experience working in an educational setting preferred. Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills. Bilingual/biliterate (English/Spanish) preferred. Familiarity with Google and Skyward data collection/information management systems. Successful experience with writing and receiving grants. Strong conflict management skills. Excellent organizational skills. Valid Washington State Drivers License and reliable transportation required.May require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

219 Day Employees Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 259 Day Employees Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave 2 personal leave days 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement 50 up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check: Pursuant to Chapter 486 Washington Laws of 1987 the recommended applicant if not a current regular employee will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition a background check based on fingerprints will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
