Job Description

SUMMARY
This position assist the School Nutrition Director in producing the highest quality of food for consumption by students and adults.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following representative duties knowledge and skills. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

1. Responsible for daily preparation and amount of food items on the menu.
2. Complete weekly preplanning and communicate with manager of possible needs within the kitchen.
3. Assists manager with creating weekly orders directing staff and assigning daily duties.
4. Assists serving lines and rotates to all areas of cafeteria work including but not limited to serving line POS/cashier washing tables pots and pans taking out the trash cleaning equipment production areas and snack bar.
5. Assists manager with cash reconciliation at the end of each day.
6. Maintains work area and equipment in clean and safe manner.
7. Responsible for keeping the walkin refrigerator and walkin freezer in order.
8. Assist in accurately recording inventory levels of food kitchen supplies and equipment.
9. Maintains good public relations with school personnel and students.
10. Assists in the training of School Nutrition Workers and volunteers.
11. Learn understand and practice all SBP NSLP SFSP and AtRisk accountability guidelines and general safety standards.
12. Other general duties assigned by the School Nutrition manager.
13. Assumes leadership role in the absence of the manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Training and Experience Guidelines
1. High School Diploma GED or equivalent relevant work experience may be considered as well.
2. Minimum of 6 to 12 months previous experience in a commercial or institutional School Nutrition operation preferred.
3. Ability to obtain food handlers card.
4. Ability to lift medium to heavy weights 30 to 50 lbs. bend stoop reach and climb.
5. Shall have ability to work effectively and professionally with school personnel and students.
6. Be able to communicate instructions and give directions clearly and effectively.

Knowledge of:
General food preparation in compliance with safety standards
District and Department policies and procedures.
Skill in:
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Communicating effectively.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Must have the ability to obtain food handlers card.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard kitchen/cafeteria environment.
