Job Title: K5th Interventionist
Purpose of Position:Provide small group intensive instruction in literacy and mathematics to support each student in reaching their full potential. Provides colleagues with guidance and leadership in the area of literacy mathematics and the MultiTier System of Support (MTSS). This position is also responsible for monitoring reporting and communicating student progress and performance. Engages in professional growth and fulfills professional responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated application of effective instruction meeting student needs relative to district benchmarks and standards.
Knowledge of best practices and interventions to support striving learners in the area of literacy and mathematics.
Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of sixth through eighthgrade students.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
Knowledge and application of the Iowa Teaching Standards.
Knowledge of special education and section 504.
Knowledge of Federal Rights and Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations.
Ability to plan and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of striving learners.
Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating organizing and evaluating.
Proven ability to lead other educators in best practices to intervene in the area of literacy and mathematics.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Education or Board of Educational Examiners approved alternative
Certification/Licensure:
Appropriate BOEE licensure
K6 Elementary Teacher with certification in K5 Literacy or Mathematics
Equipment:
Office equipment such as computers twoway radios multiline phone system cell phone copier and fax machine
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates effective implementation of the eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria.
Meets responsibilities as outlined in the Professional Growth Assessment Plan Employee Handbook and Board policy.
Develops with supervisor a plan for professional growth.
Maintain a reliable attendance record.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Regular collaboration with other teachers to support student learning.
Manage student behavior effectively in a small group setting.
Provide direct individualized intervention services to Tier 3 students.
Uses districtapproved instructional materials.
Observe and evaluate students performance and development while providing feedback to encourage student growth.
Uses researchbased literacy and/or numeracy intervention strategies to support students.
Participate in districtprovided professional development related to best practices in content areas assessment and MTSS.
CoFacilitates school problemsolving team.
Collaboratively supports the identification of students needing Tier 2 and 3 support.
Provides datadriven strategies that address equitable practices for improving student experiences and achievement.
Supports the implementation of an MTSS framework for literacy and numeracy that supports differentiated instruction closes the achievement gap and ensures high levels of learning for all students.
Support staff with differentiated and jobembedded professional development on best practices in collaboration with the principal.
Coach staff to implement evidencebased academic interventions in literacy and numeracy.
Supports staff with testing and progress monitoring.
Supports principal with schoolwide data.
Analyze schoolwide data to prioritize intervention needs across the building.
Assist staff to analyze student achievement trend data (universal screeners diagnostic assessments progress monitoring tools CFAs state tests) in order to personalize instruction.

Repetitious bending lifting and hand movement.
Ability to work while standing moving and/or walking.
Drug tobacco and alcoholfree while working.
Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
Working Conditions:
Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
Occasional meetings outside the school day.
Occasional exposure to body fluids fumes noise and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
