Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Direct and lead the district behavioral multitiered systems of support (MTSS) programs including behavior interventions (MTSS) and Positive Behavior Support programs (PBIS) programs. Support the superintendent deputy superintendent and assistant superintendents with assigned administrative duties in support of established district goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelors degree in Education or related field

Masters degree preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Valid principal certificate Texas midmanagement or other appropriate Texas administrator certificate preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of the behavioral multitiered systems of support MTSS processes

Experience with evidencedbased practices progress monitoring databased decisionmaking fidelity implementation and researchbased behavioral systems at Tier I Tier II and Tier III

Knowledge of strategies in working with students with disabilities and underrepresented groups

Expertise in professional development for staff

Ability to interpret data to support the development of Tier II and Tier III interventions for behavior needs

Ability to lead campus leadership through campus improvement plan development

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to lead and motivate other staff members

Ability to manage crisis situations

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including prolonged keyboarding & use of mouse; reaching

Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 75 pounds)

Environment: Prolonged or irregular hours; must be able to work with frequent interruptions and maintain professional demeanor under stress; Must have problem solving skills.

Travel: Frequent districtwide travel occasional outofdistrict travel

Regular attendance is an essential function.

Experience

Three years of successful classroom teaching experience

Experience as an administrator preferred

Experience with MTSS processes

Experience creating and delivering staff development

Experience in providing parent training

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Create design and implement the Districts policies and procedures that address student behavior needs for overall success.
  2. Direct the implementation professional development and evaluation of MTSS and intervention strategies.
  3. Evaluate MTSS data collection and interpretation and lead the development of a responsive action plan(s).
  4. Monitors the effectiveness and the implementation of both Tier II and Tier III intervention programs and systems.
  5. Research and evaluate interventions to implement for Tier II and Tier III.
  6. Communicate and collaborate with principals assistant superintendents and parents concerning positive behavior supports.
  7. Recruit screen interview and hire prospective personnel.
  8. Oversee the implementation of State compulsory attendance laws.
  9. Oversee the development of campus improvement plans including campus needs assessment.
  10. Develop and coordinate disciplinary hearings.
  11. Assist with the revision of the student code of conduct and handbook.
  12. Coordinate PEIMS discipline data entry and administrator professional development
  13. Serve on various committees.
  14. Respond to parent concerns as appropriate.
  15. Prepare data as requested by the superintendent.
  16. Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.
  17. Maintain confidentiality.
  18. Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures
  19. Ensure compliance with all local state and federal policies procedures and statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  20. Perform such other tasks and accept such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
