POSITION TITLE: Child Care Director
EXEMPTION STATUS: Nonexempt
REPORTS TO:Director of Early Childhood
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10.75 months;school year
Primary Purpose
Provide childcare services as stated by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to enable teen parents to pursue and earn a high school diploma. Direct and supervise the general operations of the district childcare facility.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong leadership management and organization skills
Ability to supervise and evaluate staff performance
Ability to work well with infants and young children
Ability to work well with teenage parents and adults
Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Experience
One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Program Management
- Remain informed and implement the minimum standards for childcare centers.
- Oversee the daily operation of the childcare center and supervise childcare aides.
- Comply with childcare licensing and ensure the safety health and wellbeing of children served.
- Assist teen parents in acquiring outside resources when needed.
- Assist childcare services with the funding process for teen parents.
- File necessary forms to childcare services to receive district reimbursement for childcare expenses.
- Enroll and complete the intake on all children into the childcare center.
- Maintain immunization records on infants.
- Maintain attendance records on staff and infants.
- Conduct fire drills and tornado drills.
- Ensure that fire and health inspections are current and in compliance.
- Administer medications and maintain infant medication records.
- Coordinate transportation for teen parents.
Personnel Management
- Supervise the daily activities of childcare aides and provide input in performance evaluations.
- Ensure all childcare staff know and understand the minimum standards for childcare.
- Maintain compliance records for staff training.
Professional Growth and Development
- Maintain familiarity with district initiatives to better serve the needs of students.
- Schedule trainings for childcare staff (first aid CPR shaken baby SIDS brain development training).
- Train substitute staff in 8hour preservice training.
- Participate in professional learning staff meetings and special events as assigned.
Communication
- Organize parenting training and coordinate other activities to ensure parents stay in school.
- Articulate the districts mission and goals to the community and solicit community support.

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer printer peripherals telephone
- Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing occasional kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting reaching
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions keyboarding use of mouse wrist flexion/extension
- Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 3050 pounds without assistance 55 pounds with assistance and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
- Environment: Work is performed in an office and childcare setting; occasional indistrict travel; occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress work with frequent interruptions
