Job Description
Butterworth Hospital offers a wide range of advanced medical surgical and specialty care services that allow the urban campus in downtown Grand Rapids to serve as a major tertiary and quaternary referral center for West Michigan and beyond. These services include the only Regional Burn Center and Level I Trauma Center in West Michigan. Butterworth Hospital is a clinical leader in cardiovascular cancer obstetrics and gynecology orthopedics neurosciences trauma and emergency care services among many others.
Job Summary
Essential Functions
- Assists Occupational Therapists in providing therapy to patient/client. Participates in the preparation and of the patient/clients overall plan of care.
- Provides a treatment program as planned delegated and supervised by the Occupational Therapist according to agency policy to restore and return maximal function to the patient/client. Assesses the effectiveness of treatment and modifies treatment methods under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
- Documentation for each patient/client is in compliance with department standards medicallegal regulatory and reimbursement procedures. Ensures that required documentation for activities within areas of responsibility is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Attend and participate in interdisciplinary conferences to coordinate patient/client care. Provides input into education information for family or caregivers regarding the Occupational Therapy program.
- Alerts the supervising occupational therapist or designees of potential health problems or changes in the patient/clients condition.
- May instruct and train rehabilitation staff nursing other medical staff and students regarding patient/client needs and rehabilitation services.
- Participates in ongoing process improvement and program development.
- Provides transportation of the patient/client as needed using the employees personal vehicle to
community based resources related to the patient/clients therapeutic goals (Home Care business lines only/based on SH entity).
Qualifications
- Associates Degree accredited therapy assistant program (Required)
- Therapy assistance experience (Preferred)
- Experience in neurological injury TBI and Spinal Cord injury (based on Spectrum Health entity) (Preferred)
- Occupational Therapy Assistant Certified (COTA) NBCOT National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Upon Hire (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) AHA American Heart Association within or Basic Life Support (BLS) ARC American Red Cross within 90 Days of Hire (Required)
- LICDrivers License STATEMI State of Michigan Home Care Business Lines
