Job Description

Teledyne Gas & Flame is seeking a Vice President of Sales for Gas & Flame Detection for the Americas. The position will be based at Teledyne Detcon in Cypress TX.

Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection has brought together industry leading products to provide our customers with portable gas detectors fixedpoint gas detectors and controllers with a proven reputation for quality and reliability. Notably Teledyne has extensive application experience and provides products that fully meet the needs of our customers. Every second of every day our hazardous gas detection monitors are protecting people and property and making workplaces safer around the world.


Detailed Description:

Teledyne Gas & Flame is seeking a Vice President of Sales for Gas & Flame Detection Americas providing strategic leadership and direction to drive revenue and margin growth to expand market penetration to develop new business opportunities and to ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires a deep understanding of gas detection and instrumentation technologies strong commercial skills and the ability to understand the regulatory requirements of the market. The VP of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies for managing key customer relationships and for developing a highperforming sales team.

The appointed candidate will be responsible for revenue and profit growth of the entire Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection portfolio in the Americas leading and managing a dedicated and qualified field sales team and application specialists through strong leadership and motivational skills market and product knowledge coaching communicating Teledynes values goals and successfully executing company strategy.

The successful candidate will join the Teledyne Gas & Flame Group working in close cooperation with the global Sales Marketing Product Management and Engineering teams while directly supervising the Americas Gas & Flame Portable & Fixed Gas Detection sales team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical Proficiency in G&FD Applications:
    • Demonstrate expertise in gas detection and instrumentation technologies.
    • Navigate and comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • CustomerCentric and MarketFocused Approach:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
    • Utilize market intelligence to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
    • Oversee the sales pipeline from lead generation to deal closure ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Mentor and develop a highperforming sales team.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
    • Conduct performance reviews succession planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operational Alignment with Strategic Goals:
    • Contribute to all strategic planning sessions.
    • Contribute to budget planning and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).
    • Ensure alignment with company growth objectives and drive longterm profitability.
    • Ensure effective usage of our CRM System.
    • Attend conferences and professional association meetings and promote the group product solutions and brands.
    • Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information on weekly basis.
    • Build strong business relationships with distributors end users and industry associations in the Gas & Flame Detection market in the Americas region.
    • Responsible for achieving sales targets for the Americas by identifying sales opportunities in new and existing markets to meet or exceed business growth objectives.

DESIRED SKILLS EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelors degree in engineering or businessrelated discipline or at least 15 years of directly related experience in sales and business development preferably in the gas detection or instrument business
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong technical knowledge of gas detection and instrumentation technologies.
    • Proven track record in customer relationship management and market development.
    • Excellent leadership team management and motivational skills.
    • Ability to analyze market trends and develop effective sales strategies.
    • Strong external and internal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Working knowledge of Salesforce as a CRM tool.
    • Effective team player with the ability to build and maintain positive external and internal relationships.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Travel is required and expected to be 40 to 60 per year.
