Job Description

Library Assistant I Circulation Substitute

The Staunton Public Library is hiring a substitute parttime customer service position to work at the circulation desks assisting patrons of all ages and abilities in addition to checking materials in and out. Must have the ability to interact with the general public with good judgment and tact make decisions in accordance with Library/City policies and procedures and accurately count money. Excellent communication and technology skills a willingness to learn and training and experience equivalent to high school diploma required. Previous customer service experience required. Candidates with Spanish language or American Sign Language knowledge are encouraged to apply.

Substitutes work:

  • At least one Saturday per month 9 a.m. 5 p.m.
  • Oncall basis to help cover for illness vacation etc. for all shifts.

Hourly wages start at $16.29/hour with annual paid holidays plus two personal holidays; no health or retirement benefits. Selected applicant will be invited to start training immediately upon hiring.
