CONTINUOUS POSTINGSCHOOL YEAR
Next Review:February 2025
Earn $140$200 per day depending on location working as a substitute teacher for Kingman Unified School District or work part time as your schedule permits. We have a Monday through Thursday 4 day school week so you can enjoy every long weekend off.
Summary/Objective
Managing student learning in the absence of the regular teacher in accordance with the goals and directives of the District.
Essential Functions

- Responds to all internal and external customers as it relates to job in a prompt efficient friendly and patient manner
- Teaches district approved curriculum as specified in the Arizona Standards
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students involved
- Guides learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and (in harmony with the goals) establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment
- Evaluates students academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
- Maintains the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all policies regulations and rules
- Performs related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff vendors schools and the community.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Longterm substitutes only Ability to plan and implement lessons based on state standards district and school objectives and abilities of students
Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job primarily operates within the school environment.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Regularly required to see talk and hear
- Regularly required to sit stand walk and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a 9month 148 days on call temporary position. Employee will work up to nine hours per day Monday through Thursday. Employee may need to work extended hours to meet deadlines. This position is not eligible for medical benefits.
Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma/GED certificate
2. Valid substitute teaching certification as issued by the Arizona Department of Education
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree or
- AA degree or 60 semester hours from accredited university or satisfactory results on an AZ stateapproved competency exam. (Para Pro)
Required Certifications/Licenses
- Valid and appropriate teaching certification as issued by the Arizona Department of Education
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
