Job Description

William M. Davies Jr Career and Technical High School located in Lincoln Rhode Island is a state school with approximately 900 students whose mission is to provide a challenging academic and technical education within a safe and supportive environment that ensures every industrycertified graduate is capable of pursuing higher education and becoming a productive participant in todays workforce. Davies is hiring an Art Teacher! (Fulltime)This a new position at Davies as art is one of the RI ReadinessBased Graduation Requirements. The position represents an opportunity to shape art instruction at Davies. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to integrate art instruction into each technical area (gr 11 as well as develop/introduce standalone electives (grades 912 that align with student needs/interests and will be guided by the Elements & Principles of Art & All Grades Art CertificationKnowledge of RIDE high school reform and current educational practicesDemonstrated experience working effectively with students parents and staffThree years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level is preferredSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptableEssential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)Develop and implement effective instruction linked to National Core Art StandardsResponsible for the preparation implementation and evaluation of instruction in the content area as required by the departmentUse evaluation results to develop individual learning goals for each studentCollaborate with colleagues to revise and improve course curricula on an ongoing basisDevelop and implement effective teaching strategies that will allow students to master State and National standardsMaintain student recordsgrades attendance and performance measures that assess and improve student and maintain systems and protocols for effective classroom management and the establishment of a learning environment built upon mutual respect and rapportPromote the establishment of a productive environment for students to facilitate diversity awareness and sensitivityDevelop yearly goals for professional development and participate in required and voluntary activities to improve educational practices and understanding of various educational initiativesAdhere to guidelines for Davies Policy/Procedures as well as all RI State standards some are noted in the Personnel Rules & RegulationsPerform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Academic Instruction and/or the Director/PrincipalSupervisesStudentsSkills RequiredCommunications written and oral proficiency Collect analyze and disaggregate assessment data to inform low and high stakes decisionsAnalysis and critical evaluation and/or application of student work and instructional practicesSolve complex problems and think rigorously and independentlyCollaboration and teamwork Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility lifelong learning diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional developmentPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
