TITLE: SERVER
DEPARTMENT: FOOD & BEVERAGE
REPORTS TO: FOOD & BEVERAGEMANAGER/RESTAURANT MANAGER/DINING ROOM MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY:
Working as a member of our Food &Beverage Team ensure that guests have an enjoyable dining experience byproviding quality customer service including accurately taking ordersunderstanding menu items and food preparation techniques serving/clearing foodand drinks and accurately processing and collecting payment. Workclosely with Restaurant Management Kitchen Staff and Food & Beveragepersonnel to help guarantee our guests a dining experience which exceeds theirexpectations.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain a neat andprofessional appearance with a properly cleaned uniform.
Greet guests warmlypolitely and in a timely manner once seated. Always speak to guests withenthusiasm.
Be prepared to answerquestions about menu items and food preparation techniques and be prepared tomake suggestions about special menu items. Take advantage ofopportunities to upsell additional food and beverage items where appropriate.
Answer questions frompatrons about beverages and beverage service. Understand regulatoryresponsibilities regarding service of alcoholic beverages.
Understand ordertaking systems to be able to clearly accurately and quickly covey guest ordersto kitchen.
Deliver food andbeverage to tables efficiently following appropriate table service that food is presented to diners as ordered and according to restaurantquality standards.
Be available toguests to assist with any needs corrections or additional items desired duringservice. Understand when guests are unsatisfied with a meal and how tohandle the situation.
Be able to determinewhen guests have finished meals clearing tables in an efficient mannerfollowing appropriate table service techniques.
Prepare and presentcustomer bills. Correctly understand all payment methods accepted how toprocess payment and make change.
Understand reportingrequirements for tips.
Ability to safelyoperate restaurant equipment including but not limited to coffee makersrefrigeration juice machines soup warmers toasters point of sale systemsand other basic kitchen equipment and appliances etc.
Handle andcommunicate special orders and guest complaints in a professional information with customers about the status of their orders. Have abasic understanding of common food allergies and communicate these issues tothe kitchen to ensure diner safety.
Complete side work asassigned (resetting tables stocking supplies cleaning etc.
Participate in setup and cleanup of banquet functions as outlined in Banquet EventOrders/Event Sheets and as directed by Sales & Catering Manger/Dining RoomManager.
Maintain food safetyservice station and personal cleanliness and sanitation standards as requiredby the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and OSHA as well asgeneral maintenance and upkeep of dining room/restaurant.
Know who to notify incase of broken equipment or unsafe/unsanitary conditions.
Must be able tomanually handle/lift/carry product up to 60 pounds between knee and shoulders.
Must have bilateralfine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entire shift.
Must be verticallymobile working in limited space for entire shift.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eligible towork in the United States of America.
Previous food &beverage service work preferred but not always required.
Ability tocommunicate in English both orally and written with guests and employeessome of whom will require high levels of patience tact and diplomacy.
Ability to work as apart of a team.
Ability to understandverbal directions written menus recipes labels on foods and chemicals andother workplace safety signage.
Active listening andobservation skills.
Knowledge of commonfood allergies and understanding of crosscontamination issues.
Outgoing personalitywith good oral comprehension expression and speech clarity.
Ability to work underpressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
ABILITIESREQUIRED:
Frequent walkingbending stooping reaching pushing lifting manual dexterity and repetitivemotions. May require the ability to work on uneven outdoor surfaces.
Occasional stairclimbing.
Working in extremetemperatures and conditions both indoors and out.
Schedule variesaccording to operational needs; may include early mornings evenings weekendsholidays and splitshifts.
Frequent handwashing.
Hazards include butare not limited to cuts from knives burns slips and tripping.
