Job Description
Kinsale Insurance is hiring a fulltime onsite Technical Manager to join our growing technology team at our headquarters in Richmond VA. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader who is passionate about building highperforming teams delivering impactful software solutions and driving continuous improvement in a fastpaced collaborative environment. At Kinsale Technical Managers lead teams who deliver complex costeffective solutions for new development and enhance/maintain existing applications. Through coaching mentorship and technical guidance this individual ensures that both team members and environments are capable of exceeding expectations and delivering on the teams committed objectives.
Responsibilities
Talent Development
- Align with and champion departmental vision mission and values
- Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the teams code architecture and processes across all aspects of their work
- Manage the daytoday activities of the team in alignment with departmental strategies
- Recruit mentor coach train and provide guidance for the team
- Manage resources playing a key role in performance management and individual development
- Manage employee engagement and promote a compelling employee value proposition
- Collaborate across the organization to deliver business value
- Manage status reporting metrics and benchmarks
Technology
Our Tech Stack Includes:
Java (Spring Spring Boot JPA Hibernate Docker REST/SOAP) AWS (SQS EKS) Python AngularJS/Angular NodeJS SQL JSON Kong Kafka (Confluent) and modern CI/CD tools (Git Maven SonarCloud GitLab/GitHub Copilot)
- Collaborate with team members management and other stakeholders to provide timely quality delivery while adhering to standards and controls
- Coordinate with offshore development teams to monitor progress address technical challenges and align with sprint objectives
- Refine and monitor SLAs quality standards and timelines for offshore deliverables
- Act as a thought leader around opportunities to leverage technology to drive efficiency and quality
- Address blockers and impediments that arise as part of Agile team work
- Provide leadership and guidance on the technology stack used in our environment
- Identify issues recommend solutions and escalate as needed
- Assess risks and balance those against business needs
- Ensure that internal and external systems meet functional and nonfunctional expectations
- Partner with peers to improve processes and implement solutions
- Explore and integrate generative AI capabilities to streamline development workflows and enhance team productivity
- Drive adoption of AIpowered tools and practices such as automated documentation and test generation
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in computer science technology or related field or comparable experience
- 5 years of demonstrated software development leadership
- 3 years team management experience with a proven track record of developing people to optimize talent and deliver work
- Proven ability to lead large technical projects and programs and successfully deliver results
- Experience with full stack development application architecture cloud technology devops practices and Agile software development methodology
- Excellent leadership teamwork focus on value delivery and technical skills
- Demonstrated problem solving capabilities; able to effectively communicate and manage priorities
