Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing courtinvolved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking reliable responsible and enthusiastic students to intern with our agency!

The division internship with the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice will provide students an opportunity to combine their academic studies with onthejob training and experience while completing their education. The internship program is designed around a projectbased assignment which will support the mission of the agency and align career goals of the student.

This summer internship will take place from midMay to midAugust.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Rising junior senior or graduate student enrolled in an accredited university or college in good academic standing pursuing a major in business administration public administration information technology human services social services psychology political science or a related area.
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Knowledge of core functional areas related to an area within a division Administration & Finance Reentry and Interventions Placement and Program implementation and Policy).
  • Ability to work the entire duration of the internship program (midMay to MidAugust).
  • Advanced Microsoft office skills and demonstrated proficiency with email programs such as Gmail or Outlook.
