Job Description

Iowa City Community School District

Preschool Lead Support Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Licensed by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners as a Preschool Teacher.

2. Five 5 or more years of teaching experience

3. Commitment to supporting the growth of others and the belief that adult learning is essential to student learning.

4. Experience designing presenting and facilitating adult professional learning experiences and working collaboratively as a member of a professional development planning team.

5. Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills

6. Knowledge of Professional Learning Community and MultiTier Support System process and protocols

7. Advanced training and knowledge in behavior educational strategies which may include but not be limited to applied behavior analysis functional behavioral assessment and behavior intervention plans.

8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:Preschool Program Administrator

SUPERVISES: N/A

Executive Summary: Provides support to teachers in implementing the district and department mission and vision as it pertains to preschool to serve general and special education students. This position will coordinate and enhance the district preschool programs promote the overall efficiency of the school system and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child. This position requires the continuous use of independent judgment. The performance responsibilities shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district and department.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists thePreschool Program Administrator in providing leadership in the development of preschool programs based on effective student learning practices and state and federal laws and regulations.

2. Supports all staff in professional growth helping students meet learning expectations collaborating in the analysis of data to guide instruction and examining/implementing best practices to improve student learning.

3. Works directly with teachers and support staff to carry out the vision and goals of the school community by providing classroombased demonstrations professional development and support to grade level/curricular/building level teams.

4. Assists staff in the implementation of the comprehensive school improvement plan and special education strategic plan.

5. Assists school staff with strategies to support and meet student needs and achievement of academic goals.

6. Collaborate with various district teams in order to align support for the key initiatives and goals of the district and school. 7. Communicate and maintain positive relationships with district staff and community.

8. Assists in analyzing formal and informal data on student achievement and progress in order to inform instructional planning.

9. Assists preschool teachers in the identification and selection of appropriate instructional materials aligned to content standards and the IEP goals.

10. Attend and support the facilitation and collaboration ofpreschool PLCs and support datadriven decisionmaking.

11. Have identified goals and objectives as well as identified structures for monitoring impact and evidence to speak to how the work with teachers is aligning with district and department strategic plans.

12. Intentional followup and followthrough on highlevel cases including monitoring and reporting of progress and action steps.

13. Maintaining both a student teacher and classroomfocused microlens while remaining aware of the macro systems of building and district.

14. Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher Contract. Salary and calendar year are to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: This jobs performance will be evaluated per the Districts policy on Evaluation State Statute and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
